Unconventional and Amazing

I had no idea that so many different techniques would be used in this build.
Having five lions to build really give you a nice scope of challenge when going from the larger feet lions to building the very large black Lion which happens to incorporate various strengthening techniques to keep the legs strong and supportive during Large Robot mode. This set is a must for any one who considers themselves a Voltron or Lego master Builder. and its giant. And its much larger than I expected.

Nice build

Overall, the finished product is fantastic, very solidly built and displays well. Playability is virtually zero because the only really moving parts are the arms. If the price comes down, I may buy another so I can display both versions (Voltron and individual lions). Only word of advice is make sure you pay attention to the orientation of the dark grey connecting pieces of the green and red lion's legs. If you don't put them as directed, the legs won't fold properly when you combine them.

Total nostalgia trip and loved every minute of it! I took my time, built 2 cats one day, 3 the next, but this is totally do-able in one day. I just loved it so much I took my time! Easy to follow, average difficulty. My wife bought it for me and I love her more for it!!

My 8-year-old put this together. It was challenging but not too difficult. It is a great set to put together and then be able to play with.

An awesome set, but...

When I had seen that this was approved as an official LEGO set, to say I was excited is an understatement. Being a kid who grew up with this show in the 80's, this was one of the many toys that I had always wanted but could never buy. Being a VIP member, I ordered it as soon as we were able to.
The level of detail and the unique ways that the parts interlock to make it sturdy is great. Parts were used in ways that I wouldn't have envisioned even with my many years of building LEGO sets. Specifically, how the shoulder joints were made to be strong enough to hold a pose was impressive.
That said, I feel that this set somehow leaves a bit to be desired with regards to how pose-able it is. The arms and head are pose-able to a good degree, but other than that it's pretty much a giant brick. I understand that LEGO designers need to make sure that it lives up to standards that they set forth for durability, but anyone who's watched the original version of this show is not a child anymore and most of us are getting this for nostalgia and/or collecting. Build it, pose it and leave it is what we're going to do with it. I already have a few ideas that I'm going to incorporate into this set to give it more flexibility.
That's not to say this is a bad set. It's well worth the cost and it is truly impressive in how accurately they were able to match the 1980's version of Voltron. I highly recommend this set to anyone who is or was a fan of Voltron.

Fantastic set, almost perfect

A 5-star set needs to be flawless; this one is close.
The functionality of the Lions is fantastic with one exception: the black lion. The legs don't swivel and must be removed in order to transform into Voltron.
Not sure if it's a limitation with the pieces available or if it is necessary for strength, but it would have been fantastic to have that functionality.
The set is great and it recreates Voltron very nicely. I would go as far as saying it's the best set ever created. The functionality/playability is almost perfect.

Finally completed the LEGO Voltron (2,321 pcs). That was definitely a lot of fun, got to relive my childhood... growing up watching the show & building Legos
