2321 pieces and my Lego Voltron is complete. It took me a week on and off the complete it. I will buy another set next month so I can sit the 5 lions with a formed Voltron on my shelf

Childhood coming to life

When I saw this set was being released it was a must-have for me. I was very excited to build and display. After being on display for the last few years I picked up the model to move it, when I did pieces fell apart. Upon inspection a number of the joint pieces, ball & sockets/hinges, were broken or breaking. It looks like the socket portion of pieces broke open and now the lions legs wouldn’t stay attached. Lego was kind enough to send replacement pieces, but I am worried about continued display will cause other joints to fail, the six brackets holding on a shoulder are quit loose and fall apart with a small bump. (such as picking up or nudging on the shelf) open to any tips or tricks to keep pieces from becoming fragile.

Let's the get the bad stuff out of the way -- this may not apply to you, but my stickers weren't printed properly.
The image on the sticker wasn't centered exactly, so even if you apply the sticker DEAD center on the tile properly, it makes the print look off center. I'll be mentioning this to LEGO customer service and I'm sure they'll help so I'm not going to rant about it. It's an issue so I figured I should mention it.
Now on the great stuff:
Just when I think I've seen the most clever connections/building techniques LEGO can throw at me, they go on and blow me away again! The angle of the legs on the black lion, the way Voltron's wings attach, the shoulder assemblies, again on the black lion, all sheer genius!
And you want to talk about SOLID. Each lion felt like it's own solid build and together as Voltron they're just as solid.
Sure, there's not a ton of limb articulation, which some will scoff at, but given the scale I don't fault them one bit for that. Besides, as far as playing with Voltron goes it's the FORMING VOLTRON! that's the most exciting.
All my kids want to see is me switching him between Voltron and the separate lions. They flew the lions around a bit (like 10 seconds) and then say "Let's form VOLTRON.... AGAIN!"
I wish there was a 4.9 star level because while this set is AMAZING, it's juuuuuuust shy of the perfection of the Saturn V rocket. Only just.

LEGO Voltron?! TAKE MY MONEY!
on July 28, 2018

Grew up in the 80's with Transformers, Voltron, & Gobots all running a close tie behind what I'd have to admit was my overall favorite toy - LEGO's. While I've been eyeing a lot of the Creator Expert/modular building sets lately, my last LEGO set was the 1:10 Enzo Ferrari. The moment Voltron was announced, I knew I'd be pulling the trigger, no more sitting on the fence. Then I saw it in the window at my local LEGO store, & it was a done deal within 2 minutes.
This is a truly exceptional set. Spent about 8-10 hours putting it together with a few breaks. Considering the difficulty of recreating Voltron & making it look like the real thing, this is a great design & build. While you come across a few little things here & there, they really nailed it. My main gripe is the lion legs popping off a bit too easily, but hey, if you make a set this large, design it this well, & keep the price reasonable - I can't even call that a complaint. You'd have to up the scale considerably to address the issue. That said - Please give us a massive Voltron just like you did with the Millennium Falcon!
In the spirit of perfect 80's-themed sets to offer, I'd really love to see more "combiners" like Transformers' Devastator & Predaking. LEGO would once again have my money as fast as I could hand it over. Also, the DeLorean from "Back To The Future" as a 1:8 or-so model seems like a *total* no-brainer, universal among different age groups, & fortunately unchanged over the years. Please... Please do it! :)

VOLTRON !!!

Pretty enjoyable build with a side of nostalgia. There was a lot of special pieces to accommodate being true to the design. Each lion is very solid by itself and it transfers over when Voltron is formed. I am pretty much geared to LEGO Technic cars but Voltron was a necessary exception. Well worth it.

Pure joy in a box

I purchased this set to build with my daughter. We are both huge Voltron fans. This set does not disappoint! It's an amazing combination of style, structure, and awesome-sauce!
Building the individual lions might be the most fun I've had assembling a Lego set in recent memory. My daughter (6yo) was building a lion while I was building a lion. It was a nice way to team-build.
The size and weight of Voltron is astonishing! It must weight over 3 lbs. It commands attention in any room. Seriously, just try to look away from this masterpiece.
Once complete (which took over 3 evenings), we have continuously "Formed Voltron"! Very stable and fun to transform from lions to Voltron and back.
Lots of unique building techniques in the lions and how they combine. The joins are impressive. Very impressed with how taking standard bricks can make the heads look like the cartoon lions.
Highly recommend this set for any fan of Voltron or LEGOS. A lot of love went into designing this set and it shows!
Thank you!

Great build but need the minifigures!

Been waiting for this set for 2 years since voting for it. Build exceeded my expectations and was really fun. Once the lions are combined to form Voltron, the legs do not move and limited movement in the arms. The rigidity is understandable to help support the weight and prevent it from falling apart.
If you are looking to play with this, you may be disappointed. However, it is a great display piece.
My other complaint is I wish this set came with the Voltron Force minifigures.

More than my expectation

Started with a single Lego brick. I was not really into it until I built the first lion, then the second, and then all of them. Then I volted them in... I was astounded by the beauty. It was spectacular! I never expected it to be this beautiful especially if you built it. Great job Lego for Voltron!
