Fun but disappointing
on March 4, 2018

Fun building, nice challenge but the end result is a bit disappointing.
The bottle is not really looking nice to many separations/parts. The bottle parts are to small and to many, the joints are in the way for a clear view.
Also not enough water bricks.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

disapointed

wow. This set looked so good online. But a second look shows how poorly it was designed. I built it, put it on display and realized that you can't see the ship very well. I'm not certain you could tell what it was if you didn't know. The bottle was poorly designed. It should have been one piece from bottom to neck, so that you could clearly see through it.Or at least 2 pieces so that there a clear view in front. Building the bottom was acceptable.

It’s really cool

When I first heard of this LEGO I was intrigued. It definitely is a really cool design. I ordered it as a gift for myself on my birthday and when it arrived I was not disappointed. It didn’t take that long for me to build, maybe a hour or two at most, but the final result is amazing. I have a really cool display shelf and it fits perfectly up there with another LEGO I got for Christmas. My favorite thing about it is the cool base that the bottle sits on. There’s a compass in the middle and I love how you can take the bottle off the stand and look at it closer. Definitely one of my favorite LEGOs I know own. It’s definitely more of a display item than a toy, so I wouldn’t recommend it as something that you could play with.

As soon as I found out about this set I thought to my self I must have it, because I’ve always wanted a Ship in a bottle but this is even better, and when I actually got it and built it I just loved it because of how awesome it looks.

Nautical and whimsical

I like unique LEGO sets and this one is definitely unique; you build the clever little ship then you build the bottle from the bottom up and around the ship. Aligning all the little clear 1x1 slices takes patience but it’s totally worth it. I love the little touches that really make you think it’s a real ship in a bottle: the “wax” seal on the bottle, the “water” in the bottle, the shape of the bottle and the stopper, and so on. And there’s a bonus when you complete the stand; it has a spinning compass - too fun!

Ship in a Bottle

brown pieces holding masts and flags have broken or have identified fractures (pre-break).
I have abandoned the project & requested a refund.
First time I have experienced this -- I am surpriesed and dissatisfied with this particular product.

Oh no! That's really unusual, and I'm sorry to hear that you've had this experience. In the future, if a piece breaks during normal use, we're happy to send out replacements. You can request them at LEGO.com/Service; just choose the "Bricks & Pieces" option to get started.

Don't see how pouring in pieces is buiding anythin

I don't see pouring Lego's as the same as building something. I bought this set opened it up and was disappointed. The pieces are big and almost 300 of it is water you just pour in not even clip it to anything. Kind of takes building out of it doesn't it?! Ended up returning it. Because almost a third of it you don't build. Did however build the ship and it was a little on the generic side.

Beautiful

The Ship in a Bottle was a beautiful piece to build. The sails took a bit of time get just right to be able to fit all three mast on the deck. The bottle itself was straight forward when it came to the neck it took a moment or two to get it to fix.
Enjoyed the tipping of the bottle to get the little bits of blue to move across the bottom.
