The Difference is what made this!

I literally just purchased this kit a few hours ago. I loved putting it together. The biggest reason is that it is so different from all the others. It will look great with the fishing store. My only wish was that it had more "water" lego pieces. Not enough of a concern to give it less than the highest rating!

Great display for a home

I visited the Lego store just to browse. As I walked out this set caught my eye and I immediately bought it. There was only 2 left and I managed to buy 1 of them. It was fun putting it together and it looks great on my table in my man cave.

Ship in a Bottle

Great set. Great design.
Out of dozens of sets that I have this is one of my top 3 favorites for the build and design.
I really like so much of this set, the cork & bottle neck, the bottom of the bottle, the masts, the tiny cannons, the compass, the whole stand, and more. The pouring in of the 'water' was quite unique & kind of fun...
Even the box is good design, it can easily be closed and reopened. LEGO!- Please make all or at least more boxes like this!
I think the biggest gripe that could be said about this set is all the small pieces- see pic -(not the 'water', thats great)
Overall worth the purchase, great display, not for playing.

Excellent Display Piece

As I have commented before, we are more collectors than anything else. Halfway through we realized we needed to keep the clear pieces clear of fingerprints. Wiped everything off and continued the build. As with the Saturn Rocket I am glad no stickers were involved. This is a quality build.

First Lego Build
on February 17, 2018

I am 41 years old and have watched my boys build many Lego things (usually Ninjago). I have never had a Lego build set until I saw this one. I love ships in bottles and thought it would be a fun piece to assemble. I am a complete newbie, but it took just over 2 hours to build. It was easy to follow the instructions. I really like how the bottle assembled. Everything was well-thought out. I look forward to finding other projects in the future.

Message In a Bottle...

First of all, I love this set. It is, in my opinion, one of the the best sets Lego Ideas has released. I'm a big fan of "display only" sets because, well, I'm a 40 year old man and I don't play with muh Lego sets, so it's nice to see something so beautiful to display that isn't an architecture set or something my kids are begging me to play with.
The instructions are clear and easy to follow and only took about 2 hours to assemble. There was a minor amount of what I call non-traditional building going on (for example, laying bricks in place without them being secure), of which I am not the biggest fan, but because the ship and bottle are not going to be picked up and jostled around I'm not worried about them falling out.
I know folks have complained about the bottle design being flimsy, but mine wasn't. Maybe I'm just a better builder, but it held together quite well. I also read complaints about using smaller clear panels which supposedly obscured sight of the ship within. Well, the smaller panels were necessary to accommodate the ship sails which are built as such to fit into the tight dimensions of the bottle. There's a reason for why everything was designed the way it was and nobody, ever, anywhere is going to fail to recognize that the set is clearly a ship in a bottle.
Overall, this is a beautiful set and a wonderful conversation piece. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderfull display set.
Fun build, some interesting ways of building the ship and the bottle.
Can be displayed anywhere, it doesnt even look like LEGO from 1m away, if you like how it looks, buy it, if you want something to play with, you might want to get something else, its not built to be played with.
and something that allways makes me happy, not a single sticker, everything is printed.

Fun build!

A fun (and sometimes frustrating) build. As others have mentioned, the ship lacks detail, and maybe it was just me, but the sails fell of the mast any time I touched it. But it was a lot of fun to put together, even though my heart stopped for a second when I opened up the bag with all the small clear pieces.
It's a great display piece. The 1x1 clear blue parts are a really nice touch. The stand is very cool.
Overall, I'm really happy with this build!
