It was okay

I was disappointed that the bricks representing the water didn't snap in. You just kinda poured them in all willy nilly and they shifted around. Otherwise a fun build.

Cool, but flawed
on July 25, 2019

The ship itself is poorly designed. It doesn’t have a support piece that runs through the whole piece. Because of that, when you handle it, it’s fragile. More fragile then it should be. The bottle itself is cool but the bottom is overly complicated. Which makes that the second bad thing about the piece. It’s a great idea. And a cool cool piece however there are parts that are poorly engineered and the piece count is exaggerated.
It could have been cut by 20%. It should have been designed with less pieces but made larger to compensate for the smaller piece. That’s a large What If.
Overall it’s cool. But not worth the price. I should have saved up and bought the Saturn 5 Rocket instead. Or the Harley Motorcycle.

Thanks for your review. It sounds like your ship isn't shipshape! You'll want to double-check your build - LEGO® sets are designed to be pretty sturdy, so if it's not holding together A-Okay, that could be a sign something's just a little off. If you need a hand troubleshooting the build, get in touch at www.LEGO.build/Service.

This set is super cool and creative. It makes a good desk or shelf display lego set. The only negative is the cost. It is way way too expensive however, it was so cool I couldn't resist.

Very Detailed

I liked this set, and it's a great display piece. I only have two gripes about the set. First, the bottle is a bit fragile and almost too small to fir the ship. Second, I wish there were more ocean pieces. It takes quite a bit of adjusting to make them cover the entire bottom.

Bought this for my GF and we built it together. It's actually more challenging than it looks. But the end result is a really cool display. I've fooled many people into thinking it was a real bottle until they approached it.
Very clever idea, so the original thinker-upper should be proud of their legacy here.
What a weird trend. Who started that ship in a bottle hobby? I should Google that.
Anyways, I think this is a really neat LEGO display purchase and is far more engaging than a real ship in a bottle. LEGO Ideas is one of my favorite themes for designs and creativity like this.

Backwards

Building is great , however when you get to the end the ship is backwards from the image showed on box and packet . Even the last page showed it built backwards but play around a bit and it can have it set i guess whatever way you like in which direction.

Great Display

he set is fairly intricate with small piece placement. However the set comes together relatively easily (even with big fingers). The piece count is a bit deceiving, given all the "water" one stud pieces, that you just pour into the "bottle", so don't let that hold you back from purchasing. Once complete it looks great on a shelf or desk.
