Really enjoyed building this set, with much little detailing. And impressed with the bottle! Every Legobuilder should have it!

This is a very nice set that a lot if people take a closer look at. The base is far more detailed than it looks in pictures, it has a compass under the ship along with neat globes on the sides. The ship has a nice amount of detail for it's size, and the trans blue pegs makes a pretty ocean beneath it. And the bottle itself is also very cool on it's own!

Ship in a bottle!

I am new to the lego community. I was never exposed to lego building as a kid, and my children were never interested in Lego when they were growing up. However, I love puzzles and I recently discovered the logos are basically 3D puzzles. My husband saw an ad for the new Hogworts Castle and I knew I had to have it. However I had never built a lego set before so decided to look over the sets offered. I found the ship in a bottle and decided to cut my lego teeth on this build! I am now a lego fanatic! I enjoyed building this model ship. The finished model is fantastic! I am a grandmother so I don't really fall into the targeted age group for lego builders but I love it! I love this and look forward to future builds!

So much fun during the build, but I think it would be better if the ship or the base have more details.

Maybe if I had more hands

This was a very fickle build. The directions were hard to tell exactly where things attached to each other. Often had to drag in extra people to hold something while you were putting bottle together. The clear pieces are not like regular Lego plastic and resist solidly clicking together. When half way together I found an even bigger problem. The mast is too tall for it to slide in. Rechecked directions 4or 5 times and all pieces before it are in place correctly. Tried a no-no and tapped with a small wood mallet but to no avail. Ship with mast would not slide in bottle. In the end I has to bulge out one side of the bottle (seams are not clicked together fully) or the would be a bottle with no ship. Looks a bit sloppy. This one took longer than it should have but mostly for reasons above. Creative set but did not work out well. I gave it 4 bricks but that is really rounding up from 3 1/2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear you experienced some frustration with your set.
It does sound like something is off with your build, likely earlier on in the bottle portion. The best thing to do would be to take the bottle apart and rebuild. And if you need a hand troubleshooting the build, our brick experts at LEGO.com/Service are always happy to help.

I saw this beauty and knew I just had to have it. I showed a few friends because "look how cool this is!" And one of them bought it for me for Christmas. It's just as beautiful in person and a fairly simple build with only one point that had me back tracking. I would highly recommend this to anyone that's looking for a striking ornament with a twist. It's now on my desk at work.
It took around fifteen hours total to build but that's with the distraction of the holiday period and the dogs insistence that he "help".
