An extremely articulate, authentic build & design. Just like the Expert Creator series, the Fishing Store ideas line has enormous quantities of small pieces: part of this is for the exterior "wooden planks" and the other part being for tools & mini-figure shop accessories (scuba diving & fishing equipment etc.) I can't emphasise enough at just how many little detailed accessories you receive- fish, lobsters, seagulls, helmets, TNT,"hooks", rods, maps, harpoons- it's endless. The set uses some printed pieces, with only a few stickers. There's excellent access to the building which includes a swinging opening wall on the back of the shop for better access - A real bonus as this is something you don't have on the Expert modular buildings. I would've preferred access into the raised platform that the tower section sits on, otherwise I'm struggling to find anything poor about this product. This is undoubtedly a highly photogenic Lego model, a great set all 'round.

Enjoyable to build and a good display piece

A very interesting build, not hard but I had to concentrate as there are many places that have asymmetrical brick placements. Maybe it could have done with a boathouse under the raised deck, given that it's just hidden space, but it has so much detail already that its a minor point.
A beautiful addition to my collection, totally different in style to the other sets and now on display.

Impeccable set ! Great to build, great to play with and great to display. I like the old green colour that gives a unique and authentic "by the sea" look to the set. There are many other fishing building on Lego Ideas. I truly hope it will become an official Lego theme. Looking forward to build other fishing buildings :)

This ideas set was very interesting to build and was well worth the time spent. There is no boring areas of build and it was challenging from start to finish. Very enjoyable!!!

The perfect LEGO wabi-sabi experience

Firstly, this was a family build. Our son is six and loves his LEGO like all little kids everywhere. More often than not, the kits he most often enjoys are the licensed ones and ones he can take apart and make something else from. Less than a 500 pieces and he’s golden. For him, this was a challenging build but he’s never been as focused on a single kit like he was building this one with us. The pieces are strange and wonderful, beautifully unique, detailed and strange. They fit together, at times, in odd angles and on irregular, imperfect ways. It takes shape slowly and with a marvellous reveal at each stage as the odd construction, with pieces that don’t seem to go together aesthetically, form one of the most attractive and downright beautiful finished LEGO kits. It was a really fun build, with tons of playability in all this hidden nooks and crannies, hidden chambers, and surprises throughout. Truly a beautiful set.

I have been building LEGO all of my life, and I can say with great conviction, that this was one of my favorite models to date! The detail is second to none for a building. It has such character and creativity. I absolutely loved the little items and decals around that were tongue in cheek, and played on the stereotypes of an old fishing store filled with old fishermen chin-wagging about their biggest catch, the one that got away, etc. With each turn of the page, I was looking forward to the next feature that left me in awe. As for the construction of the model itself, it is very solid, and well laid out. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. Thank you to both the LEGO IDEAS fan designer: Robert Bontenbal, and LEGO for producing this.

Truly Unique and Exciting to Build

I was really excited to build this set because I love all of the Lego buildings, and this one is quite unique. The minute details of the four new minifigures really make them extraordinary. The captain has a special hat and cabled sweater. The beautiful colors of the pieces make this build very pleasant, and the instructions flow brilliantly. In my opinion, the best Lego builds don’t just make a great final product, but also make you excited and impressed as you build, and this is definitely one of those. The way the fences are built with black behind them to make beneath the porch appear black and more realistic is inspired. The detail on the flat “wooden plank” pieces is spectacular and, even better, it is NOT a sticker.
I really appreciated that the color-accuracy on the instructions is much better than for some other sets. I did not have any trouble distinguishing between the shades of gray, brown, and tan when selecting the correct pieces for each step. This is a major and much appreciated improvement over some other sets.
I appreciated that, even at relatively low 2049 pieces (compared to the large Creator Expert Sets), the bags were divided into 5 sets. Many (somewhat older) sets with more pieces are divided into 5 or less sets. However, in this case, I was able to build this set using much less space and more quickly, working from less pieces to choose from at once.
The detail in this set is exquisite. The little yellow pieces with writing on them, meant to be sticky notes I think, are an awesome finishing touch! Also worth mentioning are the pieces designed to be like coins and the calculator! I was also delighted to see that most of the little props, such as the cup and bottle, were given pieces to stick to, as opposed to just sitting on top of the counter, where they could fall off.
