Definitely an inexpensive toaster. Not that sturdy- can tell metal is thin. Hoping to get 3-4 years out of it. The bread is toasted as it should as stated in product review- meaning 3 and under is light. When we use defrost on low and then toast on 3 the bread is darker.

Bought this beautiful toaster in red. Very well made and sturdy. Toasts perfectly - even when toasting 1 slice. Fits into my newly remodeled kitchen perfectly.

I love my new toaster, it has a retro appearance and really fits in with my red appliances. I love the different settings for toast, bagels and etc. plus the Cuisinart name means quality and longevity.

Love the red finish stands out and has a great retro appearance, Overall works well and its a keeper. It toasts well. Minor issues: hard to read the heat control buttons at first. After while you memorize which button is for bagels and don't have to look. Occasionally the levers don't lock down without a couple of tries. *Larger bread crumbs that fall to the bottom are hard to remove. Have to turn upside down and shake or long pliers to grab and pull past the bread holders.
*Note: we separate a muffin and place both slices in one slot back to back. Basically toasting the inside and keeping the outside soft. Doing this creates more bread crumb droppings.

I like the range of toasting on this unit and begin to understand what a setting is depending on the type of bread or bagel being used. It is hard to engage the toaster when you push down, very hard to catch and usually of 3-4 tries if engages.
