This is my second one, I returned the first one because even at the highest setting the toast was not even at a medium brown. The second toaster was only just a little better. I have to set the dial to 10 just to get the toast a little toasted. I purchased a higher wattage toaster 1800 watts so it would toast fasted and get my toast brown. This toaster does not do that. Disappointed that I have to toast twice just to get the toast brown.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this toaster. This is my 2nd one, I bought a new one because my son is using y other one.My husband also commented and said this is a nice toaster except too much play in onw of the control knobs. I didn't notice anything, I will have to see what he is talking about

Did we get a lemon? It toasts inconsistently. The knobs are loose and don't seem to hold their position. One day we get great toast and the next we have to put it down once or twice more. We have an older version of this that works great.

Definitely an inexpensive toaster. Not that sturdy- can tell metal is thin. Hoping to get 3-4 years out of it. The bread is toasted as it should as stated in product review- meaning 3 and under is light. When we use defrost on low and then toast on 3 the bread is darker.
