This microwave allows you to change the power level after the food has already started cooking which makes the +30 seconds button usable in even more situations

My brand new microwave works but the light and readout is so dim it is barely discernible. I am still trying to get in contact with someone who can tell me if the light problem is a defect or can be corrected.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We'd like to assist you with the microwave light. It is normal for the clock and light to be dim. There is no lighting behind the clock lettering to make them display bright. We hope that the more you use your appliance the more you will like it.

I had a previous GE Microwave that lasted over 12 years and when it failed I wanted another one of the same model. It was discontinued but this model had identical specifications and wattage and size etc with only the buttons arranged a little different and was white instead of stainless steel. We thought it would be a perfect replacement. Problem is that it is much louder and makes initial buzzing noise when used that is annoying. If we push up on the underside of the right front in the right spot we can make the noise quieter so it can likely be fixed. I am going to take it apart and see what is going on when I get around to it. Also, the buttons seem like they have a smaller sweet spot when pressing them as you really have to be directly in the center or they don't make any contact.

Very Happy [Except for One Minor Thing]

Like my new MW very much. VERY roomy [pretty sure I could nuke a turkey in this]. I should've bought a compact size since my kitchen counter space is limited [a problem I can live with]. The only change I'd like to see is a brighter keypad. My kitchen doesn't have windows & it's actually difficult to see the keypad. But I LOVE having a white interior again. Whoever thought a dark interior was a good idea must have never needed to clean a MW [can't see when it's clean - can't see when it's dirty]. All MWs should have light interiors. And it's nice to have that little "reminder" beep back again too.

Great features except for light being too dim

We liked the size and features on the microwave. What we do not like is the microwave light. It is very dim and you have get really close to the microwave to see the time. Printed out the manual to see if there was something we could do to brighten the light a bit.

Perfect Counter Size

Nice countertop microwave. Not too big, but can handle a large dinner plate. Heats food quickly, and has a lot of settings and features that make cooking a lot easier.
This replaced a similar sized Sharp that did not last long - less than 3 yrs before it started buzzing loudly, and push bar to open broke. Hoping this GE lasts a bit longer! It does heat food better than the last one and so far we really like it. It also is much quieter than our previous microwave.

Excellent Microwave

I was looking for a larger countertop microwave to replace a very small older one. I chose this one because it was stainless steel, fit the space I had perfectly, could coo much larger amounts of food, and had the highest wattage of models I considered. I was not disappointed. It is a great microwave! It works as expected and cooks food evenly and quickly. I use my microwave daily. My only improvement would be to have brighter lighting on the keypad.
I would recommend this to a friend!
