Microwave did not turn off, then set food on fire

After the cook time ended, the microwave continued to run and caught the food on fire. I cannot recommend this product.

Thanks for the review. We're sorry to hear that your food overcooks. Oh, no! The inconvenience is understood, and we'd like to offer some helpful information. It is recommended that you do not use the Sensor Features twice in succession on the same food portion—it may result in severely overcooked or burnt food. Be sure to let the oven cool down for 5-10 minutes before starting the next sensor cook. Never use tight sealing plastic containers - they can prevent steam from escaping and cause food to overcook.

Our old unit was 35 year old 700 watts. It's hard to get used to this higher power unit.

Hi - Thank you for having purchased a new GE Appliances microwave for your home. We understand there will be a bit of a learning curve after having your previous microwave for an amazing 35 years but are certain you will be using this model with confidence in no time at all.

Your new model offers sensor cooking features that takes the guess work out of microwaving. If you want to reheat a single plate of leftovers, cover loosely with plastic wrap making sure to vent one area, choose Dinner Plate and then 1, 2, or 3 depending on the amount of food to be reheated. The microwave will take over from there.

Pre-packaged food items will list a range of cooking times as part of the directions such as 3-4 minutes. We recommend setting the lowest time, stir half way through and if at the end of the cooking cycle, you can add additional time in 30 seconds increments as needed until you've reached your desired temperature.

Bought this unit & install kit to replace our original set. Works okay however it's much louder than our old one. Plus the install kit was out of stock and took over 2 months to arrive yet our account was charged the full amount immediately. Be prepared to be disappointed.

Poor, the prior exact model lasted one year. Couldn’t find anything to fit the same spot that was a better quality. Ended up buying the same inferior make.
