My GE Microwave

I was really excited when my spouse found this microwave to replace ours that went out just before the holidays. After putting it in, it had served my family functionally; but, we have noticed a few disadvantages. One, it did not fit the space as expected and the hunt is still in for the perfect fit. Secondly, the buttons are hard to press to get it to operate and as a result, after 2 weeks the buttons are already looking worn! Lastly, I’m a neat freak and when wiping it off with a soft cloth for the 1st time; it looked to have already been scratched or used. This microwave was $35 more than the black one I found! We keep this one because it was white and matched our older appliances, which are white. But, I’m not 100% satisfied.

It's a microwave...

It works well but not as nice as the previous GE model that it replaced. The turntable is smaller, the interior light is very dim as well as the clock light. It has the same features but the buttons are laid out differently. The door has to be opened to add cook time once the original time has timed out, (on the prior model you could just hit the cancel/stop button and restart it without opening/closing the door.

Had it for less then 90 days and broke was cooking something in it and it had less then a min left and shut off would not start back up
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like this microwave. It heats quickly and evenly. The only downside I have so far is that the membrane buttons have to be pushed down pretty hard to register.

Good Size & Matches GE Stove

Bought this brand and model primarily due to best size fit for allotted microwave space in cabinetry. Only 3 stars due to longevity of microwave. This is second purchase of identical model. First GE Microwave, model JES1657SMSS (purchased in 2019) lasted less than two years. Magnetron stopped heating, though light and turntable continued to operate. Prior non-GE microwave lasted 9 years. Price point justified buying again on second microwave because of nice fit in cabinet space. Note: during use, steam does build up easily and quickly between the plastic panels in the door, but does evaporate after leaving door ajar for a few minutes afterwards.
