When we first got it, it made lots of noise when starting and running. We then tried to center everything perfectly on the turntable, and now it runs with minimal noise right at the start and right at the end only.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This microwave heats well and fits nicely on the counter top. My only critique is that it is louder then my last microwave.
