My first microwave of this model lasted me one day! It got hot and went completely dead. I thought I would give it one more chance since we liked the looks and features so I took it back and exchanged it for the exact same thing. We've only had it about 2 weeks and it is working fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not worth the money

I don't like it. It doesn't compare to my last GE microwave. It lasted for ten years and was close to identical in appearance and power. Too bad it doesn't perform as well. The door sounds tinny when it closes, the interior light doesn't adequately illuminate its contents; the clock is too dim and the function buttons are too small and are difficult to see in anything but bright light, It does not come with an operation manual. It's obvious to me that this model was produced on the cheap.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

While this microwave looks nice, it did not last. My family replaced our 14 year old microwave with this one in December of 2019. It only lasted 9 months before it stopped working. I pushed the button to open it and everything stopped working. Apparently the controls for the microwave are attached to the button which opens the door. This system needs to be improved for the microwave to last longer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My old microwave died, so I decided to purchase a GE as a replacement. As I delivered appliances for a couple years and now work in cooking appliance development, I am relatively familiar with the major players in the appliance category. I went with a GE as I had a favorable opinion with their products. GE makes an acceptable product, maybe not the best in the category but always satisfactory.
Well the microwave that I purchased, had multiple issues, in the first few times that I used it the turn table would act up. You would start the microwave and the turntable would not spin and there was audible indicators that the motor was not working correctly. If you opened the door and re centered the cup or plate, and try restarting the cycle the microwave would work as expected. (could have probably lived with this issue).
The bigger issue is that in the two weeks I had the product it showed a power failure error twice. most of the way though making a steam in the bag vegetable side the unit just shut off, and the display had no power. Upon unplugging the unit and re installing the plug, I notice no change. It wasn't until the unit was allowed to remain unplugged for about 5 minutes that I was able to get the unit to power back up. (the outlet was checked with a lamp to verify that there was no issues with the power from the wall, ie tripped breaker). I had this same issue happen a second time on day 14 of owning the microwave. again I unplugged and replugged in the microwave to see if the microwave would work again, having no luck. Thankfully I had 15 days sense the date of purchase to return the unit, so I returned the unit on day 15 of owning it, and have sense gone with a different brand of microwave all together.
I hope I just got a lemon of an appliance and that this isn't true of all GE appliances these days. As when the microwave operated correctly it was the quietest microwave that I have ever used!

Never worked properly.

Returned product after 5 days and purchased a different brand. I have not purchased a GE product in over 20 years because the washers/dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators were simply not reliable. I will not purchase GE products in the future.

Decent microwave, needs manual and auto-clear disp

We really like this microwave (so far, it’s only been a month). I called right away to have a printed manual sent, but I still haven’t received it. Why ship it with no manual GE? The shortcut settings really need the book. The other irksome thing is that when my husband opens the door early, the display doesn’t clear on its own and go back to the time. So I find it with :45 left on it pretty much every morning. Both minor inconvenience, but you asked :)

We are adjusting to the different settings and features from our old Kitchen aid microwave. The GE seems to be getting the job done at less than third of the cost.
