I needed a new microwave to replace one that suddenly stopped working (that I had for years and really loved). I bought it because it met the basic criteria of sufficient wattage, it was white and it fit in the fixed space that I had.
It does the basics ok, but that is about it. I find the touch pad insensitive and somewhat difficult to use. I miss some of the auto cook options I had on my old unit (like bacon). It is very dark inside, you cannot monitor your food to see if it is boiling over through the window (I do not know why the inside of the window is black--it makes the whole oven dark, even when the door is open). The GE emblem on the face of the unit is poorly placed--it looks totally off center and is very distracting.
Even after about 5-6 weeks of nearly daily use, I still miss my old microwave.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This microwave looks great in our new kitchen. It is a little smaller than I thought it would be but it will be fine. No issues.

We have had several GE microwaves and all have performed well with one exception and that was only it's longevity. GE stood behind that short lived product and is in the process of replacing it.

Actually better than the last microwave unit because it has no heating element for baking. That oven function on the microwave was never used (old unit).

Simple and Basic

Just what I needed. A simple and basic microwave, used mostly for defrosting, heating and reheating a variety of food. Works great and easy to clean. Only drawback is that you have to push quite hard on the control panel to enter each task.

Quieter than the GE countertop model which it replaced. That one served since 1986 until the door handle broke & I couldn’t find a replacement handle! It also had a temperature probe feature which allowed cooking food to a selected internal temperature. The new model is quieter & I hope it lasts as long. Great job GE.
