[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the 7 quart to replace my 6 quart which had died after 15 years. It’s awesome! It’s more powerful and much quieter than my old kitchenaid. I only have 3 complaints I think the dough hook needs to be redesigned. It doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl, so if you add dry ingredients first it takes double even triple the time to incorporate all the flour and sometimes not at all. I’ve had to change the way I add the ingredients for yeasted doughs which isn’t a deal breaker but is annoying. Also why on earth would you paint the attachments? They’re going to chip and then I’m going to have to get new ones because no one wants paint chips in their food. If it’s a ploy to get me to constantly replace them, that sucks. What I love most about kitchenaid is that it’s built to last. And lastly the new whisk design is elegant but not a useful as the old design. It works great on whipped cream, egg whites and frosting. As soon as you make something using hot sugar syrup like an Italian meringue that attachment is useless. Again, the whisk doesn’t touch the bottom of bowl which leaves a hardened clump of sugar at the bottom and the recipe’s ruined. So to sum up, awesome kitchenaid, garbage attachments. Please fire the bozo that suggested painting them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine replaced my 5 quart KA elite that failed after the gears ate themselves…because I way overloaded with bread. I spent weeks researching the replacement and looked very closely at Bosch and Ankarsum. Out of the box, my new KA mixer was sooooo quiet. The new planetary gear mechanism appears to be successful. Heavy duty doesn’t begin to describe this beast although the weight of this one seems the same as the 5 qt model. This bowl is really bigger than I needed but wanted the longer warranty on the ProLine series. Much has been said in reviews about the “ticking” sound at the connection of the mixing blade to the drive shaft during mixing….and yes, it makes this nuisance sound. However, it isn’t overly loud and certainly not irritating enough to send it back. I was surprised at the speed lever. It says 10 speed but I cannot get the lever “in between” so to me it’s really a 5 speed…which is actually just fine. I love the machine but time will tell as durability and reliability are the most important thing to me…especially given the price.

perfect for fresh ground whole wheat bread

I am very impressed with it. My wife makes cookies & she just mixed them by hand. Well she just tried our new kitchen aid out & she just loves it . Makes the work so much easier & faster. The machine has plenty of power & is so quite. Very impressed. Wishing we would have gotten one sooner.

Worth the money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There's a reason the cooking shows on the Food Network use Kitchen Aid mixers--they're powerful, versatile, and durable. I bought this one to replace one I'd had for about 30 years. The old one still worked well, but the motor was getting worn out, bogging down. You can't beat the quality of KitchenAid.

Just what I expected

Let me start by saying: After much research I knew I wanted a KitchenAid - but which one? I first bought the Professional 600 Series 6 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer. It was very nice - but, it just didn't have the power I needed for the baking I do - pizza dough, yeast breads, heavier cookie dough - and I found it to be unexpectedly loud. So I decided to return the 600 and upgrade to the Pro Line Series 7-QT Bowl Lift Stand Mixer, and I am so happy that I did! Lets begin with the cosmetics...it is beautiful. The candy apple red color is just what I'd expect and I love the detailing of chrome. It looks lovely just sitting on the countertop. Even my Mom, who doesn't bake or cook, commented on it saying "Wow, that's pretty". Now, for the important things...mixing...it works like a dream. It is exactly what I was expecting when I bought my stand mixer. Put your ingredients in - turn it on - and it does it's job. No sounds of stress or strain. Matter of fact it is so quiet that there is very little sound at all. I was mixing pizza dough the other day when my phone rang and I was able to converse with zero interference. I'm very happy with my Pro Line - it makes my baking even more fun than I already had. My only concern (thus the 4 star on design) is a clicking sound coming from the attachment area up above, especially when I am kneading. The heavier the dough the louder the click. It isn't something that would cause me to return it (at this point), but it is something I am going to keep an eye on. I don't know what is causing it, if this is a problem waiting to happen, or just a "normal" expected sound. The mixer has a 5 year warranty so I'm not worried.....I'll just continue to love my new mixer and enjoy every moment of my Christmas baking. I would recommend the Pro Line to every person that loves to bake...the enjoyment and fun factor go up tenfold.

Little disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second kitchenaid stand mixer ever. My first one died after 15 years and my wife and I decided to upgrade to a higher end one that had more power instead of getting the broken one fixed. We ordered the high end proline series and I tried making some bread with it and the bowl seems in its housing which is causing it to rattle around some and cause a lot of extra noise which I wouldn’t of thought would of been a problem given our old one didn’t have this issue. Expected more out of it I given the amount we paid
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
