Second Defective Unit in a Row
on February 20, 2017

from Las Vegas
I'm a long time Kitchenaid owner dating back to 1998. I purchased the Proline 7qt mixer to have a larger capacity mixer. The mixer is big and looks very nice on the counter. Unfortunately both of my units (original and warranty replacement) have been a big let down. The first unit clicked and clacked so loud I could not hear the oven timer or TV. The second one had a scary type of grinding noise and deposited metal shavings and oil/grease into my dough. I'm not sure what is going on at Kitchenaid but I'm very disappointed. My unit from 1998 still works great but I purchased t he new one to make bigger batches.
I would not encourage anyone to purchase this unit until Kitchenaid gets the kinks worked out. It is not fun to have to deal with the hassle of contacting Kitchenaid and then receiving and sending back the old one.
I expect Kitchenaid to deliver a quality product the price paid.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

7 Quart Disappointment!

I bought this 7 quart mixer with great expectation since my 30+5-quart is s till churning out cookie dough! Unfortunately, the 7-quart is a heavy hunk of junk! The plate has to be screwed back in every time I use the mixer? The motor has staggered several times and I have only used it maybe five times? I ordered extra bowl set in order to keep one in the freezer ready for icing wished I would not have done so...ready to trade this one in for a five quart. Many of the extras are not made in the 7 quart size which was a disappointment too!
I went back to the store I purchased the mixer from and they will trade it out because they say mine must be a lemon?
I teach culinary and just purchased six new 5 quart for school. You cannot go wrong with the five quart. I have used them with teen for years and have one along with my new model at home. Buyer be ware!

New 7 qt Pro Mixer, click click click
on June 26, 2016

I have a new 7 qt Kitchenaid mixer, and just made bread dough with 4 cups of flour. The mixer makes a clicking sound, like the metal gears are not working together properly. I have read that these mixers are prone to gear failure. This is a very troubling clicking sound.

Extremely disappointed. Traded up to this machine after gears broke in smaller machine. Less than one year and a loud clicking noise began and beater stopped turning. Customer service closed on weekends.

Great Product but Frustrated
on December 29, 2016

I have used Kitchen Aid Products for close to 30 years now. I recently replaced my 6 quart mixer with this 7 quart model. The first unit came broken in the box and had to be returned to the store - a huge inconvenience the week of Thanksgiving when I needed to do a lot of baking. I completely understand, as these things happen. The store graciousely returned the unit and I have been using the new model very happily until today when I was unable to remove the paddle unit after making a batch of cookies. It is unable to be removed after multiple attempts. This is like nothing I have ever experienced with any KitchenAid products. I do not have the box any longer, but have registered the purchase with KitchenAid. Needless to say, I am very frustrated that this is the second unit that I am going to have to return now with the 7 quart model.

Older models are better

Sadly, my review is similar to the others. I had my old artisan mixer for over 25 years- works like a charm - but wanted a larger unit but as with the other folks- it started clicking, the paddle gets stuck and vibrates even if nothing is in the bowl. Totally bummed:(

Major paint quality control problems
on April 21, 2016

I have had multiple units shipped to me and each one has had a serious paint flaw, including one with an embedded hair and one with an embedded wire or plastic string. It begs the question: what is wrong with quality control and does this extend to the inner workings? I am ready to pull my hair out in sheer frustration.

Break easy

I bought this 14 months ago, but I have only used it for lesser than 5 times since I normally use the other smaller KitchenAid stand mixer. I was putting it on maximum speed, and it stopped working after I heard a loud spark... I thought it was the outlet, but it wasn’t. Spend this much of money for 5 use... This is ridiculous. I love my smaller mixer, but just not this “pro” version. Completely disappointed.
