[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model has a direct current, DC, motor in it. It rectifies the alternating current, AC, of household electricity to DC. DC motors are able to provide full torque at the low speed necessary for kneading bread dough.

The Mixer from Hell a.k.a. The Red Beast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, this thing is beautiful on steroids - awesome deep luscious red. I also have the classic and the Pro 600; yet, this mixer right here is a BEAST from Mars! From "huge" batches of heavy cookie doughs to several batches of cakes and other desserts and it never once complained. It has shredded a whole chicken (several times), beef (several times), pork (several times) and all it did was burp! Of course, the meats were cooked... We could not believe it!!!!!!!! I have not used it for breads but for EVERYTHING else I do, i.e., tacos, burritos, meat pies, pulled pork sandwiches, cookies, large batches of tuna salad, chicken salad just whatever else I can think of. That said, I STRONGLY recommend getting the scraper beater! The two together are a cook's dream. And it is sooo quiet! I do foster care and have many mouths to feed and this mixer OMG - I wish I had another one. This DC motor is no joke and I think it is being discontinued as the newer model is AC from what I am told. Sometimes, I just turn it on to hear the motor's low growl! LOL! KitchenAid PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT DISCONTINUTE THIS MIXER. Leave well enough alone!!!! So glad I got this one. thank you!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this as a Mother's Day gift. It replaced my 20-year-old.5 qt. Kitchenaid that was just starting to experience some glitches. This 7-qt. ProLine is FABULOUS!! A real joy to operate! And......the deep red is to absolutely DIE for!! My only complaint is how flimsy the pour guard is - so I switched it out for my old one....much sturdier!

Fabulous Upgrade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old refurbished stand mixer was struggling to keep up with my bread baking. The electrical cord had deteriorated and the motor sounded labored.
Then RUBY arrived!!!! I upgraded from 5qt to 7qt and the new mixer barely purrs while it mixes. LOVE IT LOVE IT

Upgraded size is paying off beautifully

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had a smaller KitchenAid stand mixer (4.5 Qt size) for 20 years -- we used it all the time and loved it. But it would struggle with some stiff bread doughs (I love to bake baguettes) and there were occasional moments when we wished we had a larger bowl size.
We finally treated ourselves to the Pro Line 7 Qt. and I'm quite pleased. It was able to knead through stiff doughs without trouble. There were occasional moments where it paused in the stroke for a fraction of a second but with none of the buzzing/grinding sound my smaller one would make. Plus, it's a looker!
We were already KitchenAid fans, and this has only reinforced our fandom.
I would recommend this to a friend!
