[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like to make bread and pasta. This workhorse of a mixer doesn’t flinch! I also have a smaller tilt head 4 quart, and I LOVE them both. But this 7 quart is a beauty… take the plunge, you won’t regret it
I would recommend this to a friend!

1. The dough hook doesn’t mix the bottom 1/2” or so of ingredients enough to incorporate into the main body of dough (Challah, “The KitchenAid Cookbook,” pg. 101, per instructions). Bottom of dough hook rests 3/4” from the lowest depth of the raised bowl. The beater rests about 1/16” from lowest bowl depth.
2.. The dough hook mounts loosely on the planetary shaft, with significant brotational slack; its retention indentation is square, the shaft retention pin is round, and larger. The dough hook retention notch is not like the notches on the beater and whisk.
3. The planetary housing/shaft assembly have about 1/8” of rotational slack.
4. The mixer makes loud, cyclical, metallic clacking sounds when in use that originate at the dough hook - planetary assembly connection, increasing in tempo with increases in motor speed.
I used a K5SSW Heavy Duty for 25 years, and all of the above is anomalous to me - and, admittedly, somewhat disappointing. Does this sound normal?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just gave my KitchenAide to another of 5. I've been using it for decades and I'm sure it has years left. I did this because I finally treated myself to the Pro Line 7 quarto Bowl-Lift that I've been lusting after for years. It is AMAZING! I have a passion for baking and I've returned to baking bread after years away from it. The ability of this machine to knead two loaves at a time is outstanding. The stability and power are everything I'd hoped for! The most important improvement over my old workhorse is the fact that the bowl really doesn't need to be scraped at all. The bottom and sides are almost perfectly scraped by the beater. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
