inconsistent controls

Bought this to replace a frequently-breaking HP, based on Brother's good ratings. However I can't make a manual-feed, multipage scan when controlling from my PC screen. To do that I have to work from the control panel on the 895. Took trial'n'error to figure that out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works quite well. Noisy when printing.

Our previous printer was from this family of printers. This printer is not the same quality. Won’t buy another Brother.

New, working fine. Occasionally refuses to print. Remedy is to empty printing queue, disconnect and reconnect power cord.

Set up was a bear. I had to do a setup without using the disk provided because my laptop doesn't have a DVD. So I tried finding the setup software on the brother website with no luck. Finally, I decided as a last resort to search google and low and behold they knew where on the brother website the correct file was. It set up easily enough once I had the correct file. The printer prints really nice quality prints which I expected as this is not my first Brother. It is waaaaayyy faster than my old one. It is a little louder though.
