Serves two laptops at opposite ends of the house. Beautiful copies, very fast, and dead silent. Like it so much, don't care about ink replacement. Already recommended MFC-J895DW to friends and relatives, and they all know I'm old, set in my ways, and picky, picky, picky.

Printer Functions vs. Ink Price and Lifespan

My printer is 2 months old. I have used the print, scan and copy function. Very useful. I purchased the LC3013 ink by Brother. Printing only black -magenta, cyan, yellow not printing. Did a purge and 3 nozzle clean ops. Printing ok after that BUT ink levels on colors dropped below to a 1/3 level-almost empty! Price for the LC3013 carts are expensive, now the 3 colors were sucked up with exclamation marks on 2 of them. Extremely disappointed at the ink usage. Tech folks were contacted, good people but I still need to know why so much ink was used.

Stated page yields for genuine Brother cartridges are based on the ISO testing standards. The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more toner and will shorten the life of the toner cartridge.
