Bought this as a gift for our 19yr old son.Previously had a norelco which he didnt care for.He has used it a month now and is very happy with it.The speed of the cutting blades is an important factor to considor to eliminate the pulling you get from slower units. Lets see if it lasts longer than a year which is when the norelco died.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great battery life!

I love this Remington R5 shaver. It works great and is far less expensive than other brands. I get nearly 3 weeks of shaves per charge (with a rather coarse beard). My only complaint with these razors is the on/off switch has failed over time with my last 2 razors. I would like to see this problem fixed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These rotary shavers have come a long way! I had become accustomed to my old rotary that was noisy, yanked my hairs, and would have to go over the same area many times.
But the PrecisionPlus R5100 is so much more powerful and so quiet. It's comfortable in the hand and looks cool too. It seems to require fewer passes, and catches those longer hairs at the edge with ease.
After a few months of use, the blades are still sharp, and I experience almost no tugging. The battery seems as good as new, lasting a couple weeks between charges. It seems to deliver almost full power right up to the end, then drops off quickly, but just a quick one minute charge will be enough to finish up, or you can use it plugged in, which many shaves won't allow. This would be nice also when the batteries finally do give out, I won't have to rush right out to buy another.
The trimmer attachment is handy for mustache and neck hair, but sometimes I forget that it can only be used in one direction, because the other direction wants to fold it closed.
I love the flexibility of the swivel head, especially on the chin area. Clean-up is so simple too with the easy to pop-off head, and easy access to everything. and just being able to rinse it all with water. I have such hard water though, I worry about lime build-up, so I try to shake and blow it dry afterwards. I wish it came with a brush, but I still have my old one and sometimes just use that rather than rinsing.
I find it most comfortable to use every day than it is to skip a couple days on the weekend and try to wait 'till Monday morning. It takes a bit longer and I get a bit more tugging when I do this. I love how quiet it is. With the old one, the wife would holler at me from bed to close the door, but she doesn't even hear this one.
I'm happy with my purchase. I feel that Remington is an expert in their field, constantly trying to improve. I would buy this again, and would recommend to a friend, or feel good giving as a gift..

The shaver does an adequate job for the price I paid. However, it still gives off a little too much shaver burn.
The quality in the manufacturing is just not there.
Compared to a Norelco, if you have the extra money buy the Norelco!
