[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This the third Whirlpool manufactured microwave I've owned (the other two were under KitchenAid and Maytag brands). For the pros, this was the least expensive. yet had most of the same features, at least the most important ones. It's a great value and does everything I need in a microwave, and does it well. For the cons, none of the sensor settings worked right out of the box. On the pro side of this, Whirlpool did send a repairman out under warranty, but it did take a couple hours on the phone to arrange it. I can sort of understand that they need to make sure there really is a problem before they incur the expense of an independent repairman. A real problem with all three is the number of plastic parts the just seem to disintegrate over time. Perhaps it's the fact that these are over the range units subject to heat. Whatever the cause it's the reason the last two were replaced. In fairness, I should add that I looked at other brands and they all used a lot of plastic. A final con is the the unit is noisier than any others I've had. It seems that the exhaust fan runs on low whenever the microwave is used. Maybe this is an improvement to protect the unit, but it surprised me. All in all it's a good microwave, not ideal, but I'd buy another one.

My New Replacement OTC Microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a perfect replacement for my 20yr old Whirlpool OTC microwave model GH7145XF, which I enjoyed over the time I had it. The new microwave has all the features of the previous model, however, the top vents are different than the older model which had the top vents facing out, which was less of a dust collector and easier to clean. The new model makes that impossible as the dust falls into the vents from the top. This is an issue with all Whirlpool OTC microwaves. That is why I give this a 4 star rating. Other than that I’m pleased and hope to get another 20 years out of this one. I do like the bisque color, which is rare and brightens up my kitchen instead of the cold stainless steel look. I hope Whirlpool ramps up production for those seeking the bisque color and pay attention to the vent issue.

Very limited features!

If open door to check on how cooked it is it, the time programed deletes starts over again! Steamer time for veggies is limited to just veggies even though all types of vegetables are different thickness!

Doesn't last

This was purchased in 2019. It only lasted 5 years. It no longer heats and makes a loud noise with a faint burning smell. I am beyond disappointed in this Whirlpool microwave's lack of longevity and quality. I had higher expectations considering the brand name.
I will make sure not to purchase Whirlpool again.

no big deal

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The light underneath the microwave is set to fire back. When it is turned on it lights up the back of the stave and the wall. It should light up the cooking area not the wall behind the stove. The template that came with the unit is not accurate.

Really Disappointed

Having just remodeled our kitchen we thought our Whirlpool microwave was a great buy after some research reading reviews. It ended up having two problems. The first was the cooktop light fixture that would not turn on as desired. Luckily this problem has been fixed. The second one (still ongoing) is the sensor that detects if the microwave door has been closed or opened. With this issue, the microwave does not turn on (It thinks the door is still opened). After replacing the microwave control panel few weeks ago, the problem is back. I still need to open a new service request to fix this issue.Being such useful appliance nowadays, it has been a stressful experience for my family to own a Whirlpool microwave.I wouldn't buy any other appliance from Whirlpool, considering that we plan to upgrade our refrigerator and ranges with new models.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

One feature that I especially like is the Warm setting that can keep a meal warm without guesswork from me on a power setting. Just touch it and it will automatically keep food warm for up to an hour. Good looking unit, too!
