Stopped working after 1 year...

I bought this microwave July 3, 2017 and it has stopped working. I kept getting an error message saying “Open/Close Door” this past weekend and have tried different things to get it to work (unplugged it for a time, tried different buttons, etc). I watched a YouTube video of others having the same problem so I thought I would go back to your website where I bought it to see if anyone else was having the same problem and there was another person (“Holdingforty” from Hutto, Tx) in the reviews with the same problem. I know it has to do with the door connection and the pieces are made out of plastic and looks like it is missing something. Apparently it is not sensing that the door is closed because the light now stays on constantly too. Is there anything to fix this or do I need to buy another one and have it installed? More $$$?

Quality equipment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this microwave for 6 months, long enough to know something about it. I purchased a whirlpool because of my past experience with their products. Even though this product is made overseas, as all microwaves are, I try to buy from companies that manufacturer at least some of their products in the US. The controls are convenient and easy to understand. It is easy to keep clean. It's quality is evident when you simply open and close the solid feeling door. The exhaust fan is very quiet. It also cooks beter than any other microwave ive used. I highly recommend this Whirlpool product.

Good microwave but horrible warranty and support

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our microwave came with our new condo. We liked the features on it. One day I put something in the microwave and it started arcing. The metal rack had made a burn mark in two spots on the inside. The 3rd party repair came out and said this happens occasionally. They ordered the touch up paint and new rack. Parts come in they come back out and make the repair. The touch paint didn't match the paint on the inside from the factory. Now we have two dark grey blobs to look at. Made several calls to Whirlpool and the comments were this is an acceptable warranty repair and nothing else would be done. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product again.

Replaced again

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Remember when they used to build appliances that would last decades? Well you aren't getting that here. Had to replace this exact model with the same one because it matches the rest of our appliances and it is the only one in stock in this color. My wife did not want this microwave since the original had issues and failed to last beyond days after the warranty period which isn't long. This may look nice but the quality isn't there. I shouldn't have to buy an extended warranty. You should build a better product. I do not recommend and will never buy this brand again.

Great Microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We needed to replace our 10 year old Whirlpool microwave and was pleasantly surprised when the new one fit exactly into the space of our old one! We didn't even need to replace the mounting bracket or move the holes for the bolts. It was a very easy install. I also like the in-depth features that the new one has. For example the butter melting setting. Love this!
The one negative is that you can't change the done tone to a simple beep. It is a tone that rings 4 times when the microwave is finished. Add this to the 30 second long over timer and the minute long washer and dryer done tones and we have a whole plethora of sounds coming from the appliances. Really quite annoying but none of the appliance companies out there seem to understand that some people just want a simple done tone.
We have only had this microwave for about a month so I can't comment on the longevity of it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Would never buy this appliance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new house came with the microwave, but it’s the worst one I’ve ever owned. It’s very slow to cook or reheat everything and the turntable comes off its track very easily and is difficult to put back.

Bought same model again

The reason I only gave it a one-star rating is because it only lasted 3 or 4 years before the magnetron broke, meaning it could no longer heat up anything. The reason I bought a Whirlpool in the first place was because Consumer Reports said Whirlpool made the most reliable over-the-counter microwave. So why did I buy the same model again? Because I didn't want to replace the bracket and cut out the template to drill the screw holes, such a pain in the neck and is prone to error. So I just bought another one and had it up there in a few minutes.

First one died in <2 years Second one lasted 13mo.

Bought this. It died in just under 2 years and was deemed "Not repairable". We thought it was a fluke and bought another and it died in THIRTEEN MONTHS. Whirlpool sent out a repair man and after 5 visits and ever part replaced it was working again. 4 months later it is not heating and not venting. It's only had light use. We recommend avoiding this microwave at all costs.
