Realistic Sounds!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My six year old son thought this was an awesome toy. Makes realistic roar sounds and when it walks. He thought it was awesome that you can pick a toy up in it's mouth and toss it! It would have been nice to have it come with a little dinosaur for it to "eat" and toss. The feet easily turn backwards when you try to walk it, which frustrates him. Wish they would stay forward. Overall, a very cool toy.

Great toy for dinosaur lovers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 5-year-old nephew would be terrified to see a Jurassic Park movie, but he loves dinosaurs and can name nearly all of them. So he was ecstatic when he received this toy. It's big; at about two feet long, it probably would be too large for anyone younger, but it is just about the perfect size for him. And he loves how it makes noises when it stomps and roars.
From an adult's perspective, the toy can be a bit cacophonous because it makes a noise with every step. In many ways, it is the most realistic dinosaur toy I have seen. The rubbery skin has a great texture, and there is articulation on both the tiny arms and giant legs. It does seem as if the dinosaur has a bit of trouble standing on a table (partly because of the button on the bottom of the left foot that makes the stomping noise).
I was a little concerned at first with the biting action that is triggered by moving the tail. It was a bit difficult to trigger at first (though my nephew seemed to have no troubles), but what worried me was the speed with which the dinosaur bites. It seemed so ferocious as it chomps/picks things up that I was certain it would hurt if someone got a little finger in there. I had quite a bit of difficulty sticking my finger between the jaws (which was a good thing), and when I finally was able to, I realized that it really did not hurt. Still, I would not let my nephew chomp near his baby brother. I thought the thrashing action was a nice touch, but it would have been better had a tiny plastic dinosaur been included to munch on.
Still, this is highly recommended -- even if a child won't be seeing the movie for several years.

Extremly dissapointed with the defective item

I bought this item online as a birthday gift for a special kid after going through lot of good reviews. Unfortunately Mattel delivered a defective piece. The tail movement upward/downward doesn't make the toy perform the expected movements of opening the jaw or even thrash and throw. Extremely disappointed, as I have to purchase again somewhere else to gift on his birthday.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best dinosaur

Awesome for your young one
