upgraded from an s5.
battery life was okay, an upgrade from the s5. camera is fantastic. phone has a bunch of features which are cool, but i don't necessary use. love the audio makes the phone worth getting just for that.
don't like the curved screen, requires more maintenance to keep it clean, miss the flat screen. screenshots for some reason are worse on the s9 than s5, they come off as blurry.

Worst phone I've ever owned in my life

I bought this phone back in 2018, at first it was an amazing phone with no issues and then came the updates in 2019, since then I've had problem after problem with this phone. First off the battery has never been good with this phone. It dies after like 2 hours after using a couple of apps (this is when it was brand new) but I didn't mind back then. Second problem after an update my gps went haywire and changed my location when driving which is very dangerous. It would have me on a completely different road in the gps and then teleports me back to my original location after awhile. My third problem is bixby, please just get rid of the bixby button. You have to do so much just to disable that stupid bixby button that no one uses. My fourth problem is that over a month the August 2020 update had me stuck on 3g network. Just recently I finally got this fixed....a week later, which is this current week, my phone cant send text messages. If its not one thing its another. Im just done and tired of this phone or whoever makes these updates that breaks phones. Im definently not buying another Galaxy phone again. At least with Iphone not all of their updates are trash like Galaxys. I just came on here to rant badly about this phone because it deserves the bashing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

for medium experience users it is very high quality phone. i loved using it. basic functionality is so good. nice camera. samsung pay is the feature that made me love this phone. during pandemic payments were easier and hassle free. it was accepted on old terminals too.

Bought this phone when it was released circa March 2018. Having owned Samsung devices before, I had been debating to purchase an iPhone for a 'change of scenery' to the android OS. I stuck with my gut extinct and remained loyal with Samsung. The S9 has served me extremely well for almost 3 years. I have had no software/hardware issues. The phone has been in a case for the first 2 years. Even with no case, it seems to be well built and has taken a lot of impacts. 3 years later and the phone is still well speced. I would consider myself a big techy with working in the IT Industry - the S9 ticks all the boxes. Samsung updates - no issues, unlike competitors in which updates can take a huge toll on performance degradation. To conclude, an excellent device from Samsung. I will most likely upgrade to the S20. Not that I need to - just a want!

i had my samsung 5 for about 5 years before that so i was expecting the latest and greatest to last without issue for at least that long. for months now my s9 has a screen that becomes greenish / yellow and occasionally black outs all together.
this is an issue experienced by a lot of people - not sure why samsung is not taking responsibility for the poor quality product.
i would have taken a picture but with a screen that is black, it is moot .

Overall this has been a great phone. One thing continues to annoy me, though. When I am texting and type a comma, 9 times out of ten it's entered as a period and I have to go back and correct it. The comma and period are on opposite sides of the keyboard, so it's not human error. It just happened in the last sentence. There is a glitch and it's ANNOYING.

My Samsung S9 has run 2.5 years fine

The Samsung S9 will make me buy Samsung for life and I'm even taking the time out of my day to write this review. First phone and have not needed to get a new one. It's given me a good 2 and a half years and is still running as well as I got it, and if it's not I haven't been able to tell the difference over time.
