Doing Less With More

I upgraded recently from a S5 and while the bigger memory and faster speed are great the rest of the phone is a big disappointment. It was very easy to use Quckconnect on the S5 for screenmirroring to my older Panasonic tv. However, quick connect is gone and smartthings replaced it. Smartthings sometimes connects with my smaller Samsung Smart tv (and sometimes it doesn't- the s5 connects no problem and connects it no problem) but then it only lets me do screenmirroring and cannot control the tv itself or the smarthub. Its a waste of time. Likewise, it does not seem to connect to my roku stick- sometimes it finds it sometimes it doesn't but never connects- on my larger oder tv in the living room so wast of time there also. Its fine of they want to push the smarthings if they think it wil be great one day but I'd prefer to still use the old apps that actually worked on my older s5 such as the quickconnect and peel remote. Bixby is a fiasco. Overall, a big disappointment. I was going to buy a Pixel but it was on back order. I wish I had waited.

I bought this 3 months ago and I feel glad to have it. I am very happy with the manual options to capture photos. You can achieve very good captures with the rear camera. However, since the last update I have found some points where it can be improved. When the navigation bar is hidden, there is too much useless space below the keyboard. Also it is not possible to move it to the lower edge of the mobile. On the other hand, I'm going to have to get used to swipe the screen instead of having a dedicated button to record videos.
I would recommend this to a friend!

For one it is not good for calls. Makes people sound Muffled. The text messaging you cannot Customize can't even set a different tone. You can only choose what Is already pre programmed in the phone. Voice texting completely sucks. This phone has really cool features that I will probably never use. The speed of the phone is pretty good too. Would I recommend this phone probably not I would say wait for them to work the bugs out of it. Can't wait to change phones.
Pros: Bright display, Built-in speakers

Keyboard is the WORST!!!

I'm not really sure why a company as big and technologically advanced as Samsung can't build a keyboard that doesn't constantly autocorrect "and" to "ands" or "it" to "ir" or "do" to "di", or a million other non-words that it puts into texts. We shouldn't have to switch to a 3rd party app to be able to write texts without constant correcting. Other than this, the phone is decent, but this is a significant factor that should not be that hard to fix.

I brought this phone and I had to reset back to factory settings. You have to use your data to speak to texts. WHat the heck well I downloaded goggle keyboard. Then it's hard to close your apps there not enough room or space since they did away with the keys. It like having an iPhone. If I wanted an iPhone I would have brought one. Here a good one for those whom have limited data you been had because now you have to keep going into settings to turn on and off your data there is NO SHORT CUT but everything else does. The battery life is not long. I literally despise this phone. There are more problems just make me mad Not Cool

Nice phone, hate the screen

I like Samsung phones, I've had them since the S3. This one by far has the best battery life, I can go all day without charging, fairly heavy use, and still end up with about 15 to 20% battery life at the end of the day. Most other things seem about the same as the S7, which was my last phone, except as can be expected, this one is a little speedier as well since it has a newer processor. I was worried when I went to the S9, because it lacked a physical home button, and the edge screen. The lack of home button I got used to and don't mind after 5 minutes. The edge screen however seems to me to be idiotic. Also the corners aren't square, they are rounded, so it cuts off some information on some screens. For the life of me I can't see what the attraction of the edge screen is. Most other phones have screens to the edge without being curved. The screen itself being curved is kind of whatever, but a lot of games I play require me to click on the edge of the screen to pull up a dialogue box, or for other reasons, and the edge screen doesn't let you do it. It's really driving me mad. Also, I hate when sometimes you're swiping and it brings the edge options up when you don't want them. I know you can turn that feature off, I already did when I'm in an app, but it's annoying as well. I simply don't see why when they have the technology to make a nice flat screen with actual corners they decide to give us some crazy screen that doesn't seem to have any actual benefits vs other phones.
