[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First Thinkpad I owned was a T-230.
I've owned multiple laptop past 15 years but I keep going back to the Thinkpad series.
Carbon X1 is no exception. It has the power to run anything I need and will ever want (for now). I absolutely love it and I hope the Thinkpad series will still be produced for the rest of my life.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had 3 generations of ThinkPads back in the 2000's, but my third one was a dud and I took a break to date other laptops. Now I have returned to my old favorite, and Lenovo has stepped up their game. Great machine - light, fast, 1 TB SSD. The bane of ThinkPads of ages past has always been overheating. Only time will tell if this lovely beast starts overheating after a year or two, but so far, I have zero complaints.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best laptop I have owned in 15 years - and I have had many! Every important feature is on this model, feather-weight, strong build, superior keyboard, excellent WiFi and superior battery life. It is also very good looking.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this a few weeks ago after deciding I wanted a PC again after having 2 macs, hapy with my purchase however I feel lenovo failed on a few items. I have the matte screen and have to admit even on the brightest setting the screen is not all that bright. Op for the glossy screen with 500 nits. The speakers are terrible, could use some better sound. It would be nice to adjust the keyboard backlight simply than low or high. Overall I am happy with my purchase but expected more.
I bought this around a month ago and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It boots fast, battery last an alright amount of time, the keyboard is nice, the security features are nice, and it's super light.
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad P500 from about 5 years ago, but the battery is barely able to hold a charge for longer than an hour now, and I enrolled for college so I decided it was time to spend the money on a nice new laptop that would last for at least 4 years of software development schooling, and if it lasted into my career that'd be great as well.
My requirements were:
1. It had to be light.
2. It had to have decent battery life.
3. I wanted a 8th Gen intel processor.
4. It had to have a SSD.
5. I preferred 1080p for screen resolution.
6. Preferred if it could take a bump or two and keep chugging.
This laptop seems to hit all the boxes. I haven't dropped it yet, but it has passed that Milspec test that ThinkPad are notorious for, so I'm sure it will be fine.
Upon opening it, the box physically lifts your new laptop up and out of the box (a very nice touch), it is covered on a black cloth, and upon removing it, you are met with, frankly, a beautiful laptop. I was scared after picking it up because it is so light it feels like nothing was there.
I turned it on, did all the updates and have been using it since. The fingerprint scanner is amazing, especially since it does the authentication on chip. The Webcam shutter is a must have I didn't know I needed.
Lenovo did great with this laptop. I would buy it again with no thought. The only complaint I have about it, is as others have pointed out, it's a fingerprint magnet. My TouchPad has a dark black spot where my finger usually is, and my space bar is starting to get one too. Neither of these bother me, but if it's something that would bother you, just be aware it's a thing.
If you have the money to spend on this, do it, you won't regret it! Especially if you are a little more privacy concerned like I am, and can appreciate the fingerprint scanner and Webcam shutter.
