Really happy with this beast of a machine. It is fast and responsive and the display is vivid and bright. The typing experience is excellent as well. It is also very light and portable and on average brightness settings has a good battery life (lasts me a full day of work; 8-5 and it is on ~80% of that time). I personally do not like hybrids or touch screens and this is the perfect traditional no nonsense laptop/workhorse. My wife also got the X1 yoga which is similarly an excellent machine.
The only issue I have had thus far is that sometimes after extended use of the trackpoint the mouse cursor keeps moving to the right without my feedback. It stops doing that once I use the track pad (it happens very occasionally and is a minor annoyance). The other feedback I would give is the fingerprint reader; it works every time but is slower than what I am used to on my phone.
Overall very happy and satisfied with my X1 Carbon.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this laptop for only 3 weeks and am still installing software and customizing some software. This is my backup machine, so I don't use it as much as my desktop computer. I ordered my laptop directly from Lenovo so I could customize its configuration, including upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, 8 GB of RAM and a 500 GB solid state hard drive. I am very pleased with this laptop (which, someday, may replace my desktop computer.) The computer has a relatively small footprint, is relatively light weight and thin. I have an external DVD reader/writer for loading software that works well. I love the feel of the keyboard. I use a bluetooth mouse, so I have little experience with the touchpad, which is disabled when I use the mouse, a feature really like. I also like being able to reverse the Ctrl and Fn keys, but I would like the ability to also exchange the key tops so I don't have to remember which key is which, or someone else using the computer would know which key is which. The screen is crisp, easy to read and can be easily made quite bright. I rarely use the touchscreen feature as I prefer the mouse. Overall, I made a great choice of this laptop and I believe it will serve me well for many years.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my ThinkPad X1 Carbon for work and home and love the size, features, speed, and power I get for everything I want/need to do.
Cannot use rj45 adapter and the usbc port rogjt next to it at the same time. They put the ports too close to each other.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
