I bought this a month ago and rather reluctantly as I have been using a Mac for the last few years. Impressive features are the styling, low weight and overall performance. However, the sound is a bit iffy and would have liked to have better audio perfomance.

The X2 Carbon is what a portable laptop needs to be. It has outstanding performance in a lightweight solid built laptop. One of the lightest laptops in this size. I have about 10 X1 Carbons in our compnay and anytime I need another laptop, the X1 is most requested by the users.

I have been using the x1 carbon 6th gen for about a two weeks and I've already hit throttling issues with the i7-8650U. Under load while the laptop is on a desk it will start cutting the CPU until it hits 400MHz. This obviously is unacceptable and appears to be related to the cooling available in the laptop. Aside from the issues of the CPU the laptop performs well and has pretty fair Linux support. With minimal tuning the battery can hit 9 hours with real development use. Linux also supports the base docking station and one 4k monitor.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a nice light weight and fast computer in a slick looking black package. . Also, I much prefer the keyboard over Dell's since they feel like actual keyboard keys without the bulk. Once gripe is the fn key and ctrl key should be swapped.

I needed a new laptop because I was going back to school and my current one (a Lenovo) is around 8 years old. After looking up best laptop for business professionals/students and seeing the 6th Gen X1 Carbon at the top of every list, I decided to order one. I was extremely impress with the quality of the build and all of the features. Boot time is super fast and there is NO bloatware!! I got the WQHD screen and I think the resolution is great for everything that I have done on it.
Two things that really blew me away was the battery life and the weight!! Sitting in a room with two walls of windows and the screen brightness high enough to easily see my screen I only charged the battery twice for over 30 hours of use. Whenever I put the X1 Carbon in my messenger bag I am constantly checking to make sure that I have the X1 in my bag.
You really cannot go wrong with getting this laptop and you will be super happy with it!!
