I got two these to replace an old Lenovo and Mac. Yup, all's as expected. Reliable, fast, light, good battery life, I could go on. If anyone gives less than 5 stars, they probably complain each time a crumb falls. This computer is a sure bet. Expensive but you get what you pay for.
I had a T42 thinkpad 15 years ago. The reliability of the thinkpad impressed me when I was young. It is the reason I bought this new x1 carbon laptop even through I had two mac pros. I need this laptop most because the speed and weight requirements from my research work. When I first receive it from the UPS, the feature of the keybroad of this laptop very impresses me. It has been improved and better than others. It has light weight but fast speed than my old 15' one because the i7 4 core CPU raise the process speed very much I guess. Although the colors of monitor display was as good as mac pro, but it is very clear and vivid. Noise of this laptop is very low. I think it lower than 30 dB. It is a little loud (5 dB less?) when you running the full scan of the virus soft. The heat dissipation settled at right side of the laptop. You can feel warm when you use it. This is very good because it can dry my hand after I used a washroom or with other liquid. I very like this new laptop when carry it to office or join a meeting. It offers me reliable, cool exterior and comfortable typing. I recommend it all the science researchers or educators.
I have purchased the X1 Carbon 6th Gen with the WQHD monitor with 500 nits, 16GB ram and 1TB disk drive. I love the display and glad that I spend the extra for this feature. This laptop is very light weight, has a great keyboard and a long battery life. Time to recharge is also very quick. The system boots quickly. I like the ease of use of the Lenovo Vantage software to keep the laptop current with the most recent updates. The system was very easy to configure and get running right out of the box. Lenovo has kept the preloaded software to a minimum. I purchased directly from Lenovo and I received my laptop with a few days.
I bought this laptop once I started grad school and it works find for the amount of work I do on it. There have been some issues with the laptop not going to sleep when I close the lid. Not sure if it's a software problem or there's actually something wrong the laptop.. but I thought I wouldn't have to worry about things like that, especially with the amount of money I spent on it. I also an issue with the initial set up process of the laptop as well.
I'm satisfied in certain areas, but definitely not the perfect laptop.

Lenovo appreciates you taking the time to share your comments and concerns. The X1 Carbon 6th Gen is a modern standby system. There is no legacy sleep mode as in previous models, like you might be used to. On modern standby systems, many things stay running even in sleep mode, it is the definition of modern standby. Therefore, further troubleshooting should focus on stopping applications and disabling background services. Please utilize the following link by Microsoft to assist with wake sources:

I am a software developer and bought the Lenovo X1 Gen6 for the purpose of writing Microsoft Windows transactional applications using Microsoft .Net, SQL Server, and message busses.
MSDTC components are broken on the X1 and therefore writing or running apps that require MSDTC on the X1 is not possible. This is related to Windows updates and/or Lenovo related drivers. I am not the only one having this problem, which is detailed here... https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/MSDTC-errors-on-Lenovo-X1/m-p/4199961
If you are a software developer who must have a functional install of MSDTC, avoid this laptop. For my purposes, the laptop is useless due to this bug.
