Love it but it need 10 time better speaker, the laptop attracts to much finger print it very annoying. The track need improvement, wish the whole track pad was clickable and difficult to get starch. This I see a lot of mark on it all ready. Fingerprints reader wish it was faster and little bigger easier to use. Better screen
But fast that ? Save it .

Preface: I have been consistently using ThinkPads since the IBM days for personal and corporate use. They are still among the better or best Windows laptop computers.
Pros: Lightweight, keyboard and touchpad felt the best I have felt in a ThinkPad in some time.
Cons: The X1's got some glitches to it. Regardless of Windows and Lenovo power settings, plugged in, full power, no power savings features enabled, BIOS checked out, the machine continued to go to sleep after just 3-4 minutes of non-use.
Second, the palm rest is too shallow and I have average sized hands. Lastly, the soft feel surface from other's reviews and my perception was prone to easy degradation so I opted to order a T480s with the standard ThinkPad hard plastic palm rest which was slightly larger in size for my hands and the machine just works. Got 1TB of storage vs 512GB on the X1 with the ability to upgrade past 16GB of RAM to 24GB. All for the same price as the X1.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can you imagine not ever having a laptop? Well that is me. A businessman in his late sixties finally breaks down and buys his first laptop ever. Wow...welcome to the new world of technology. The Lenovo Think Pad X1 Carbon was highly recommended by smart almost "geek expert" nephew of mine. His uncle after research of other laptops quickly discovered that one wanted to enter the laptop market, then the Lenovo was the only way to go for the present and for the future.
You see this neophyte laptop buyer decided that it made great amount of sense to buy one the best laptops available on the market today because it will be my business companion and great financial asset for the next four to five years from today. So why not pay more for that Mercedes because you buying the best.
My ThinkPad X1 Carbon is exactly what I was looking for as it has the speed, the light weight, toughness, compactness plus all the bells and whistles that a person would want in today's business world.
