[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought a refurbished X1 Carbon. It arrived 1 day early and everything looked brand new. Initial satisfaction was perfect. Set up was fast and easy. Overall performance is very solid. My only issue, so far, is that the finger print scanner (FPS). Set up the FPS and it worked great until the computer was turned off and re started. Every time I turn the computer off then back on, It's like I never set up the scanner. I have to go thru the set up process again. I just quit using the FPS and type in the password. I am not sure if this is a Carbon X1 issue or if it was the reason it was refurbished etc. Although this is disappointing for a top level laptop, it is not a "deal breaker" for me. It's certainly not worth sending it in for a repair etc.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE my new ThinkPad X1. I work from home and this is my primary computer. It was important for me to get something that was powerful enough to support my Adobe software, but light enough that I can easily travel with it. This machine fits the bill perfectly. I opted to get the plastic case and omitted the CD drive to keep it lightweight. The screen is a little smaller than I'd like, but again, weight was very important to me, so I opted for a smaller screen. If I had to do it over again, I would probably get a slightly larger screen. My main disappointment is that I wish I had another USB port...I only have one, which is occupied for my wireless mouse. I'd like to get a wireless keyboard so I can put my Thinkpad up on a stand...but without a second USB port, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

With the SSD, it literally takes only 3-4 seconds to boot up after shutdown. The keyboard is amazing - just what you want from the ThinkPad. The touchpad mouse seems to be temperamental at times, but if you turn off the special actions, it's great. I ordered with 8GB of ram and have not had any problems with videos, spreadsheets, etc. If you do anything with heavy memory requirements, you may want to upgrade to 16GB, but thus far no problems.
The weight of this machine is pretty much as light as a feather. None of my previous laptops ever felt so light. Likewise with the dimensions - very slim profile. I am annoyed that I cannot keep the backlit keyboard to stay on unless I use the function key everytime i either reboot or wake it up. However when I do turn on the backlit keyboard, it's comparable to none - even in the dark or in direct sunlight.
I consider this to be a GREAT business laptop. Heck, it has a better display than the best Apple display (retina). Lenovo got this right. Comparable display with Apple, better keyboard, great display, and cheaper than Apple. Best purchase I made in the last month.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop is outstanding, especially the screen quality. The only issue is with Windows 10. I use Linux as an OS and run Windows in VM; however, contrary to the instructions provided by Lenovo, I have been unable to get the Windows 10 VM to recognize the code embedded in the hardware, and requests for help have gone unanswered. Windows 10 definitely wasn't a big selling point for me, though, so the laptop is a solid 4 stars and continued evidence that refurbished is the way to go.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 3rd Lenovo and the quality of the product is terrific as always! I enjoy the light weight/portability, the great keyboard tactile feel and the brilliant screen. The only downside is the somewhat higher price, but you get what you pay for. This won’t be my last Lenovo computer.
