[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Despite being rather "pricey",I've never been able to bring myself to purchase a laptop other than a ThinkPad. (I think I'm now on my 5th one.) When my trusty X1 Carbon (3rd Gen) gave up the ghost, I shopped around a bit, but not too seriously, as I knew I'd end up buying another one. Why? Frankly, for the keyboard. I do a lot of writing and prefer a traditional keyboard. (I use a 20 year old IBM keyboard on my desktop.) On a laptop, nothing beats the ThinkPad keyboard.
Many improvements have been implemented since I purchased my 3rd gen. The biggest (and most impotent to me) is the improved battery life. I've had the machine for a few weeks now and have never had to put it on the charger before the end of the day. Other changes I notice most (every day) are the improved display, much improved fingerprint scanner, Thunderbolt 3 ports and the camera cover.
Negatives and complaints? None really, but I should note Lenovo changed the "Microphone Off" indicator light from a gentle red to a rather annoying (in low light) white, and an Ethernet adapter was not included with the purchase. Also, a bit worrisome is the power connector. My 3rd gen had a very secure, rather large, square power connector but this machine charges through the Thunderbolt ports. Those connectors are much smaller, and I fear that they may be easily damaged if jolted while connected. That fear is based on experience, as my original ThinkPad had USB connectors on the rear of the machine and I managed to damage both. Time will tell.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second Thinkpad and I have one at work too. Love the simple super setup and easy search features. Fast processing, clarity of screen and light weight make it the perfect laptop for me.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This latest X1 Carbon quad core replaces my old faithful X300. If I could keep the speakers and keyboard from the old Thinkpad this new one would be absolutely perfect. Very fast, very small, as usual great quality Thinkpad.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I knocked this down a star (at least) simply because I had a lemon for my first order, which was returned only after premier support had several tries at replacing parts and a their tech accidentally erased my drive(!). The replacement works perfectly, however, and you can't beat the features, size, power, and comfort combination for an every-day power user. The best keyboard/pointer/touchpad combination, and great performance in something so light and thin. The feel is much more comfortable than other laptops because of the non-metallic surfaces and excellent keyboard. If you do a lot of typing, you definitely will appreciate this as opposed to most of the lightweight laptop's keyboards and their thin butterfly keys that bottom out easily - this one feels very professional. Very quiet, especially considering the premium processor inside, and the fingerprint reader has been reliable as well. I do wish it had an ethernet port built-in, though, and the wireless antenna seems a bit weaker than my ten-year-old Lenovo's (which I still use!).
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only had it for a week but so far I love it. Very lightweight, extremely fast, no bloat ware, and excellent for typing long essays.
