Without programming software this radio is fairly useless; all channels are preset to narrow, split tones are not available and non-selectable through the menu settings! Programming software is available but I haven’t found it yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have not used the radio yet so this is for the kit and installation. Five stars for the kit, installation was quick and easy. The length of the coax was good and even better was the removable connector on the radio end to greatly help getting it through the fire wall and other areas. The power and ground wires provided are top quality and long enough for any install. Plan to use the radio in an off road area soon.

Easy to use, powerful, and great price. The size made it easy to install in my glove box, and I happily paired this with the mag mount and both 3db ghost antenna for general use and 6db whip for long distance emergencies.

I upgraded to the MXT400, now 3 of them, from the 5 watt mobile. The range difference is tremendous, and they do not take up much more space in my vehicles. Wish I had done this sooner.
