Initial impressions of this radio right out of the box is great! It is well build! I bought this radio for my overland rig. The transmission and receiving is clear. My buddies have no trouble hearing me. And the range is great! Love it so much, I'm planning on getting another one install on my daily vehicle!

I made the move from CB to GMRS to off-road / overland group use. This is a huge improvement if you can get buy in from your group.
This radio is a solidly built unit. It is easy to use and reaches out to other mobiles much better than the CBs did. Depending on terrain, the range has been several miles with clear communications between other rigs. I have hit repeaters without any issues. The unit is pretty simple to use if you READ THE MANUAL. The built in speaker is decent, and loud enough. The scan covers the channels fast, with only down side being it scans the repeater channels when you turn on the repeater option, which is unnecessary, and adds a bit of time to scan full circle. I love being able to communicate with spotters on handhelds and other rigs without shuffling from one radio to the other, and can keep coms with family when at camp from the rig.
Wishlist:
It would be great if the display showed the frequency (ie.462.675) as well as the channel, or at least make this a display option. This would make setting up repeaters easier, as most repeater references give you the frequency and not the channel. A few memory buttons would be nice to quickly switch between local repeaters or frequently used channels in a push of a button. Also NOAA Weather channels?

Overall, I really like this radio and would buy another.

I bought this to hit some GMRS repeaters in my area and extend the useful range of some HTs during driving "convoys". Quality is nice, paired w/ a midland antenna allows me to hear the HTs and them to hear me more than double what I saw from HT to HT. Only thing missing on this model is weather channels. Rumor is the replacement will have it.
