My chair arrived earlier than expected and setup was quick. The hardest part was pumping up the ball the first time (Talk about an upper body workout!). I have used exercise balls as chairs in the past, and I have to say the stand is such a great invention! I can roll around my workspace and I don't have to worry about the ball rolling away when I stand up. I did notice a tendency to hit the wheel locks with my feet during the first week, but that has become less of an issue as I became accustomed to the chair. Also, the micro core workouts are working. I can tell because I find myself sitting up straighter in my car. So far, very happy!
I had one of those confortable office chairs that was not ergonomically designed to be sitting at a desk and it took up a lot of space. I love this chair because it's smaller, holds a piece of exercise equipment in my one bedroom condo, and I use it for office work, or to be seated for head/face massage, when friends come over for a massage. I would have given a higher rating, but putting this chair together was not eas. I felt 0 zen putting this chair together as I forced things into place as the parts didn't line up as well as it should. The wheels aren't the greatest, but it serves the purpose I was looking for.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for my back, but didn't last long.

I love this chair. I have a herniated disc in my lower back and my job requires sitting for 8-10 hours a day. Sitting that long on a traditional chair really irritates my back, so I bought the ball chair and my lower back pain went away. I know the ball chair works because the back pain returns whenever I sit for long hours on a traditional chair. The only downside is that the base didn't last very long - the metal stabilizer rods broke off after 1 year, and two wheels broke off after 2 years. I just wish the base construction was more robust.
I have had this chair for 7 months. It will take time for most of you to get use to sitting on a sphere that requires a bit of balance. Truthfully, at first I had a slightly sore rear (like you get when you go for a fairly long bike ride). If I sit on it for hours I still feel some pressure down there. This is good actually. I tend to stand up occasionally and/or shift my balance as to relieve the pressure. I find myself slouching still but less in the shoulder areas and more just bending forward right above my waist. These small issues make it sound less than perfect but after you get use to the pressure, the need for slight balancing you'll discover that this chair does what it's suppose to do; make you correct or at least think about how you sit. I am 6' so I ordered the extenders which make it a perfect height for my legs to be at a good angle. Controlling the firmness of the ball give you some control regarding height, angle, balance and comfort. In my case (230 pounds), the ball has stayed inflated and I only have to add air every 3 months or so. As many stated, the metal support bars do snap at the thread area. I rotate my chair which probably delayed the damage since the front bar would have more weight on it. Some had issues using the chair without a bar; I did not. Gaiam still is sending me a replacement one. The response was IMMEDIATE and they didn't ask questions (I forwarded the invoice with my email). Great customer service which erases this small problem. Overall a chair that MOST of you will use and perhaps enjoy. Give it a chance because the first few months may have you wondering if this chair is for you.. after a while it will be like any other chair but this one will benefit you and your body.
