Upgrade in that I spend a lot less on coffee now brews are more predictable! Once dialed in for a particular bean/roast it really is great. Fwiw I use it with a baratza grinder and an open filter, 14g if coffee for a double shot of about 32-40g. Temp and volume out of the box is working for me so far using illy, Starbucks, and a variety of local beans. Steamer works well too, though actually I find an electric heater/frother more convenient (don’t tell anyone.) The only improvement I’d like is a flat in the water tank to make the level clearer to see.
We have had ours for 10 years now and it just keeps going. We do everything manually (and visually) except for grinding the beans, and the pours just keep getting better and better. I have programed the single- and double-shot buttons for volume/duration but I still find it best to manually adjust the grinder and the tamping so that I get a nice 30-second pour with nice crema. I like how the steamer can be adjusted so that I can place the milk container on the tray and let it steam to a temperature that I can then start the foaming, without having to hold the container the entire time. Great machine.

Exceeding our expectations

We have 2 regrets about our Infuser purchase, First, that we did not get one a lot sooner, second, that we balked at splurging a bit for the Dual Boiler. However, I cannot think of a better addition to our kitchen, ever. It makes a damgoodshot of espresso, steams milk perfectly, is easy to keep clean and looks very sharp.
We were so impressed by the fit and finish of the Infuser that we replaced our toaster and toaster/oven with Breville appliances. I had one tiny issue with the Infuser when we got it, a slightly loose spring in the porta-filter. Breville sent me a replacement that arrived within a day or two. Great customer service is always a big plus. It's fair dinkum, eh?

Second machine, love it but it doesn't last

This is my second Infuser and while I love it, I only love it when it works. And after 2 years, the pressure is shot. It won't gin up enough pressure for the gauge to move out of the preinfusion zone. sniff. Descaling doesn't work. Cleaning/backwashing doesn't fix it. I have a burr grinder and am grinding very fine. It used to work, so I know it's not me. If it was just one machine, I'd chalk it up to a lemon. But this is the second machine that has honked out for the same reason, each within 2 years. (PS: lived in different homes--one with each machine--so it's not the hard water).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my second infuser, and I do love the machine, However, it took a couple of returns to get it right.(2 different sellers) and this one has a problem with the porta filter sitting properly when inserted, something drags, and makes it difficult to get it fully turned. Also to remove the single wall filter that I use is almost impossible without prying with a tool. also the cleaning disc did not have a hole in the center. Many small, maybe not so small issues that take away some of the enjoyment. I am wondering about quality control these days.

Very happy, one regret

We have had this machine for 3 years now. We bought it to replace another Breville machine we had had for 10+ years which still worked just fine-we simply wanted an updated model. It is excellent, per usual for Breville brand. My one regret, and thus the 4 stars, is that I got the black one. The paint has come off around the tray on the side of the steamer wand and now looks bad (and cheap). If I had it to do over, I would order the all chrome model.

I got the machine for Christmas and in January there are rust marks after wiping it after each use. The needle does not move off of the start point and the coffee comes out black with no creama. After watching maybe YouTube videos we have not been able to fix it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
