Great for mapping area! A little weak (4.5 stars)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great vacuum for mapping your house--allows you to send it to areas you want cleaned more thoroughly (ex: you can box out a previously mapped area and tell DEEBOT 900 to clean on "max" with 2X passes over the area = AWESOME). The suction power/brush-roller do seem a bit weak though. Overall it's closer to 5 than 4 stars, so I ultimately selected "5 stars" but am adding that it's more 4.5 stars/5--still a great quality vacuum at a fair price.

If you're comparing this to Roomba, Buy the Deebot

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I fell in love with my friends Roomba but just couldn’t bring myself to pay $800. I did some research and found the Deebot, which had the exact same functions (plus more) as the Roomba, for half the price! I love how the cleaning is systematic and not just randomly wheeling around with no rhyme or reason like the Roomba. I had zero problems connecting Deebot to the app with my satellite internet. I just made sure my phone was connected to the 2 Ghz WiFi at the time of set up. Also, I have some very thick, old school carpet in my living room. Deebot breezes right through it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are really happy with this product -- when it runs. It cleans really well and makes its own map. However, if it gets hung up anywhere (or lost, which happens occasionally) and the battery runs out, it's very difficult to get it to recharge and work again; there is a totally non-intuitive process of putting it on its charger then removing it three times to get it to charge -- and that does not always work. I wish Ecovacs would update the software or something to solve this issue, as its a real problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

On the downside, the app is very glitchy, my Deebot gets hung-up A LOT, and it seems like I'm always having to either re-map, or make adjustments to my boundaries. On the upside, I have a dog and a cat and the amount of pet hair in my house has been dramatically reduced! So, my Deebot irks me quite often, but the end results are pretty much what I was hoping to be. I have no experience with other robot vacuums, so can't say if it works better or worse than other brands.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Keeps my floors really clean and saves me time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Deebot 901 to save myself time in the evenings and still keep my floors cleaner during the week. Such a good buy. I like walking around barefoot, but don't often take the time to sweep every evening to keep the crud off my feet. With this little dude scheduled to run while I'm away at work, my floors are always super clean and so are my feet.
Also, the mapping and virtual borders features are amazing. It's so easy to keep this little guy from getting into places he shouldn't, and it's a snap to designate a small area to clean if I make a mess. It's also just really neat to see my apartment mapped out.
The mobile application is nifty, too. You can control everything about your Deebot through it: start cleaning, send the robot home, manage schedules, set a do not disturb time, view and manage the map and more.
I'd say there are only few minor downsides.
1. Although I have mostly hardwood floors, which this robot traverses no problem, I do have a single oriental rug with tassels. Depending on the direction the robot is traveling, it might get tangled with the tassels. I flip the tassels under the rug when the robot runs, no problem! It navigates the rug fine otherwise
2. The robot is a bit noisy when rolling across the floor. It makes a bit of a rumbling sound. This doesn't bother me so much, especially because I mostly have it running when I'm not home.
3. The mobile application is a bit slow. Each action you perform in the app takes time to load. Sort of annoying, but it's otherwise quite functional.
All in all, it's a great product and an especially awesome value for the price. You'll be hard pressed to find a laser-mapping robot for the same price.
I would recommend this to a friend!
