I bought this 5 months ago, used it once and it went in storage. Used it today and is printing gaps, and then said it is completely out of ink. I literally used it twice. I am going to buy a different printer for the cost of the ink.

ripoff , only want to print in black

only want to print in black. replaced black ink cartridge, will not print anything untill I spend additional money to replace all color cartridges that I will not use. not at all happy with printer

I bought this printer/scanner last year. The unit works well but it has been made to reject the compatible ink cartridges on purpose! I purchased the compatible cartridges and tried everything from rebooting the unit to downloading the epson’s updates to make it work with no luck. Eventually I gave up and bought Epson cartridges.

The Expression Home XP-5100 is designed to use only genuine Epson-brand ink cartridges. Other brands of ink cartridges, and ink supplies, are not compatible, and even if described as compatible, may not function properly. Please ensure you have installed genuine Epson cartridges. This is my third Epson Printer. My first one I had for many years. I had to relocate and i had my computer system and all in my mons storage off the garage .. obviously it retained moisture and it wouldn't turn on so I sent it to the printer heaven. My second one started having paper jams.. come to find out the belt came off and i didn't know how the little piece was to hold it in its place so ... I had to wait for this last one for about 6 months I guess. So this past August made a year I've had this one and i have absolutely no complaints. My daughter is pushing me to buy a new one so i can give her this one. The ink refills are a bit pricey and not sure if its where i bought the ink from or if they all come half full but i put my new cartridges in and it registered half way i got a little upset. NO ..I'm not even gonna lie to ya'll. I wasn't just upset. I was mad and yep i said a lot of ugly words. But there is nothing I could do. And now being unemployed I tried a online company. All i can say is NO NO NO . If it Doesn't say EPSON don't buy it ! I should have known better but I was getting the XL in all the colors for ten dollars cheaper than i would have paid at the local Walmart for the regular size .. not even the XL .. so I was excited cause i had a lot of projects to do and I could finally print and not worry about running out of ink. Yea at least thats what i thought. I thought wrong. Had two major projects.. One of most importance was my Granddaughter will be turning 8 in October and she wants a Barbie theme this year. So My daughter send me a pic of a Black silhouette of Barbies head and It says Don't argue and fight just play Barbies Instead .. or something to that effect. Ok cool .. the colors are pink and black. ummm... Nope Barbies head goes from light pink to darker pink. I took a deep breath .. print again.. nope ...still pink.. oh no... third time is a charm they say... nope they lied to us. It is not the charm ..her head still pink. My granddaughter is gonna be really mad at me if i cant get this right before her birthday. Second Project was a keepsake for a picture to be sealed in a substance to preserve it for ever. So i get last years Christmas Picture . Christmas.. Red ...green Christmas tree... colorful wrapped gifts My granddaughter in her Red and white dress and boots ..looking like the sweetest candy cane ever.. sitting on Santa's lap.. Perfect picture... that dot blame picture came out red and white.... I literally screamed!! I know this review turned into a book.. and my problem was with a knock off ink company. Just trying to keep ya'll from making the same mistake I made. Epson Printers are one of the top printers ..just dont substitue the ink no matter what the cost. My Epson copier, Printer, and scanner does everything i could ever dream of. They just need to make one minor adjustment.. It does everything else it should be able to make my coffee as well. Just kidding. My printer would be like coffee ? Oh no my Love we drink Moca Latte around this camp. I apologise .. for not being able to spell appoligise .. im calling out to Alexa .. Alexa u awkake>> nothing .. say again... nothing... okay tablets battery dead ...okay Hey Google... nothing . say it again.. my phone however is not dead its just ignoring me. And i am not even gonna try to type it in google search asking how to spell it. I want to wish each and everyone of you who took the time out to read my half a century long review/book. I hope I made u laugh at some point even if your laughing at me because trust me I was laughing with you. But Yall have A wonderfully Blessed Day!!! Hey Epson ... Hey yea im talking to you now ... Epson Expression Home XP-5100 Small-in-One Printer
I love the compact size of this mighty little printer!
It was a breeze to set up and connect to my phone and laptop.
Resolution, color and clarity are very good.
I love the arrow that tells you were to line up your paper to make a copy—I never remember which way to place it!
It is on the noisy side. Definitely noisier than our Epson WF-3540 printer.
I don’t find the touchscreen to be intuitive. It takes me awhile to figure out how to print something if I am not going through my phone or computer.
Includes bonus software to scan photos to FB and the cloud.
This is a review for the Epson Expression Home XP-5100 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can not print from any tablets!

Although I am modestly a moderately skilled PC user I can NOT for the life of me figure out how to allow my 4 Nexus & Galaxy tablets to print.

This printer is so user un-friendly & complicated.

The viewing window is so small that I have to sit down to try to figure it out. The user manual is so long it's not worth looking at. The wireless connection only works part of the time. I could go on but I won't.
