Hasn't worked AT ALL

The first time we turned the dryer on it made a loud, screeching, metal grinding noise. We have had the dryer now for 2 months, we haven't been able to use it. It still hasn't been fixed through GE warranty because of my rural home location, and flaky appliance repair companies that GE uses for their repairs. I'm now having to pay out of pocket to have this useless dryer fixed. CONSUMER BEWARE:DON'T BUY THIS DRYER

Dryer is awesome

We haven't had a new washer and dryer in 27 years. I was always fixing them when they broke.
Now that we purchased our GE Washer & Dryer combination we couldn't be happier. Great product we love them.

Great dryer, but needed repair right out of box!

This is a great dryer! The different dryer selections and timer works well and drys our clothes well. The "damp" setting is nice for getting shrinkable fabrics partially dry rather than shrinking them beyond recognition. HOWEVER, the first time we started it up, there was excessive noise from the belts and pulleys, and when clothes are wet and heavy (and remember, this is a dryer, so ALL clothes start out wet and heavy), the drum slides back and rubs on something, making the most obnoxious and loud grinding noise once every revolution of the drum. We called GE, who diligently and very quickly got us a warranty service call, and now we're waiting for parts. Yes, I give GE points for their warranty service. But, come on! It doesn't work right out of the box? Doesn't someone test these things in the factory? I think we're going to like it...unless something else goes wrong.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
