Awesome Inkjet Printer with Efficient Ink Supply!

Disclaimer: I received a free printer in exchange for my honest review of this product.
I have used both inkjet and laser printers over the year and prefer inkjets for their rich colors they can produce for printing photos and high quality documents. The Canon Pixma G1200 is not only a superb printer, but is as very efficient. It can print over 6,000 pages in color and 7,000 pages in black with the HUGE reservoir tanks for holding the ink. Unlike a traditional inkjet that has small, yet expensive, cartridges the G1200 has tanks that hold large amounts of their refillable inks. No more having to buy your 3rd party refillable inks from an online store and risk damaging your print heads. The Canon refillable inks are easy to use and come in a no spill container. The setup and use of the printer is pretty standard; I will admit, I had to refer to the startup guide to do the printer initialization but was not difficult. After that the printer was ready to use. I immediately put in some glossy photo paper and started printing various sizes, styles, and colors of pictures and text. The printer handled it all and they came out looking amazing. Very crisp and vivid photos and sharp, clear text. Very impressed. The other series of this printer include in an all-in-one which would be even better. This printer is going to make a great addition, possibly replacement, to my other printers. I would highly recommend this to anyone that has a small business with need to print high quality documents and/or photos as well as families looking for a great reliable all-around printer. The savings with the ink alone will enough to justify the purchase of this printer. I give it 5 BRIGHT stars!

Large Amount of Ink

I love the amount of ink that this printer stores. I did not like that the cord that connects printer to the computer did not come with the product, especially since it cannot do WiFi or connect to a modem. After fixing the problem myself, the printer works great.

Quality printer with great features

Setting up the Canon PIXMA G1200 Printer was surprisingly simple with precise instructions that were easy to follow, assembly was quick and to the point, a necessity for us not so good assemblers. From unpacking, assembly and downloading the software it took a total of 15 mins. Some key functionalities I require in a printer are high-quality photo/image printing, speed, and long lasting ink usage. For images, the Image Garden software included with the printer, is one of the best features, a photo managing software that accommodates many different projects from ID photos to Calendar’s. Photos printed out with vibrate colors, detailed, no streaks, the quality of the printed photos are extremely good. I also like that you can place white carbon paper, or card stock of varying sizes and not encounter issues with paper or card stock getting stuck, which have happened numerous times with other printers. Printouts are relatively fast, I’m especially impressed with the speed when printing photos. I am looking forward to not having to replace ink every few months. It serves both personal and business needs. A feature that would have made this even better is Wi-Fi compatibility, although there are other Pixma printer models with Wi-Fi capabilities just not the G1200. What would be nice to see in later models is a digital counter to show approximately how many pages of printing is left, and a numerical visual aid to show the percentage of ink left until refill. Overall, the Canon PIXMA G1200 is efficient, produces quality prints, is well designed and a pleasantly quiet printer that is smaller, lighter and less bulky than many of its predecessors. I received the Canon PIXMA G1200 Printer as a part of the STARS research experience in exchange for my honest opinion.

Excellent printer for home office

I received the Canon Pixma G1200 printer free of charge as a part of the STARS research experience in exchange for my honest opinion. The setup assembly of the printer was easy to follow with the included instructions. It probably took less than 30 minutes to go through the instructions. I used the setup guide online to connect the printer which was very easy to do. I decided to print a report for work and the print was very high quality. My favorite feature is that the printer is lightweight and not bulky. It fit perfectly on my small computer desk. I think this would be a great printer for a small home office. Ink cartridges would be preferred instead of refilling the ink tanks, but I think I may get more printing than from your average cartridge. I also look forward to saving on not buying ink cartridges. Printer would not be first choice due to refillable ink tanks, but overall good printer.

Great basic printer

I received this printer for free in exchange for an honest review, and this is definitely my honest opinion! The printer is great, it has a sleek profile, I like how the paper is loaded from the top of the printer, and the ink is so cool! I've never experienced an ink system like the one in this printer, it is extremely satisfying to load the ink from the individual ink bottles and it seems to be more efficient than other ink cartridges because I don't believe any refill would have that amount of ink in it. It does a good job of printing documents in both color and black and white and seems like it would be able to crank out a lot of copies in a decent amount of time. I will say, however, that the printer did not come with a USB cord and does not connect to wifi. There isn't even an LCD screen, just 2 buttons to indicate power and alert. I was really surprised by this because I assumed that any printer these days would use wifi or at least connect to the internet with an ethernet cord. I'll have to get used to this aspect of it, but I think the efficiency of the printer will offset these detriments once I become more accustomed to it. I'm looking forward to using this printer for years to come!

Amazing Ink Capacity!

My whole family was so excited to receive the Canon Pixma g1200 to try out, in exchange for our honest review. When it arrived, the printer was larger than I expected... I had to rearrange the computer desk for it to fit. Set up was quite easy, and my 5th grader loved pouring the ink into the storage wells. The ink storage is pretty impressive! I was skeptical about the claims on the box of up to 7000 copies on the same ink supply, but after seeing the capacity, I think they`re right. The copies are crisp and clean. My husband dislikes the wait time and my kids were surprised by the noise of printing. But, overall, I think it is a great printer. It also comes with great photo printing features. I look forward to many, many awesome copies with this Canon Pixma! Thank you, Canon!
