Very Effective!

This heater is very effective for such a small device. I am able the warm a large room quickly and with ease. The remote phone app to control the heater is cool. I did have some difficulty getting used to the app, but I am getting used to it. Overall this is a relatively small device I can stick in the corner, but is highly effective! I was given the heater in exchange for my review.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Quiet and sleek

I was very excited about this heater when I received it at no charge to review. Now that I've used it, I'm a little disappointed. First off, the good things. I like the appearance. It's sort of inconspicuous. The features seem nice. I like the thermostat vs. just high or low settings. Now the so-so parts. It says it's an extra large heater, but nowhere on the box, in the directions, or online could I find a coverage square footage or anything. We have a huge bonus room, and I would like to know if I should expect this heater to be able to adequately warm the space or not. The app leaves a little to be desired. You cannot completely turn the unit on and off with it. You have to manually push the power button to turn the unit off. You can only put it in the freeze protect mode with the app. You cannot power it completely off. If it is completely off, you cannot turn it on with the app. You have to press the button on the unit itself. I never leave a heater truly unattended, so I would love to be able to power it on with the app. As in, we're outside playing in the snow and 10 mins before we come in I'd like to turn the heater on. However, I wouldn't have left it powered on before going outside, so I wouldn't be able to use the app to heat up the family room. The app basically is good for checking the room temp and adjusting high, low, or thermostat temp. Also, it's a little unclear on the app what thermostat setting you are on. It's a scrolling menu and you just stop scrolling with the desired temperature centered on the screen. I believe the font is a size or two larger when it's selected, but it's hard to tell. There is no real way in which the selected temperature is highlighted as confirmation that you have selected it. It would be nice if it would highlight it or there would be a "save changes" button. All on all, I will probably just use this as an ordinary space heater. I don't think wemo gives it much benefit, as I'm nervous about leaving a space heater on unattended. With that said. This unit would be overpriced as a typical space heater.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great function!!

We have overall been very happy with our Holmes WEMO Heater. It has done a good job of hearing our basement living space. The size of it and the quite quiet functioning have served us well. The one complaint we have is that it gets a little warmer to the touch than we would like with young kids in the house. The WEMO function is a great option that we are looking forward to getting some great use out of with the flexibility it offers.

Heats nicely

I have a very large room that is an addition and gets quite cold. As far as a supplement, this heater works great. I like how I can turn it on remotely with the app. I am really interested in smart home features, and this proves wonderful, as I don't have to waste electricity by heating my room when I'm not home, nor at night, but I can turn it on and pre-heat the room prior to arriving home, so it gets warm before I am in the room, waiting for the heat to circulate.
I do not like the looks of this heater. I think it's big. It looks clunky. The faux wood grain case makes it look like a unit from the 1970s. I wouldn't think by looking at this heater that it is technologically advanced . A sleeker design would probably be in line with the technology behind this unit. I don't like how it looks in my room.
I received this heater in exchange for reviewing it, but overall I'm happy I have it.

Great, efficient heater

I have had the Holmes WeMo-enabled heater for a month. It is very sufficient at heating my open kitchen, dining, and living rooms. (About 800sqft) I love that I can set a timer for the heater to automatically start warming the downstairs area before we wake up. And since we arrive home at different times each evening, I can adjust the heater while away through the WeMo app so that our main living area is warm when we arrive home. This keeps us from heating the entire house all day and only the main area we use. I am excited to see how much our gas bill drops now that the negative outside temperatures have arrived! I'm considering purchasing a second one for the upstairs sleeping area. The heater blends in nicely with my decor and doesn't stand out like the other tower heaters I have used in the past. The wheels also make it easy to move around as needed. (I have received a sample of this product to review. The contents of this review are my honest thoughts and opinions of the product.)

Love the Smart Features

We have been using for a few weeks and really love it. It warms our family room up so quickly! Being able to turn it on from anywhere is a truly handy feature and very easy to set up and use.

Ho Hum Heater

The backstory is that last November, I found that I was in the market for a heater that could be controlled remotely in a vacation cabin. We don't winterize the space completely and during really cold snaps, one part of the home needs a bit of extra heat to keep the pipes from freezing.
I googled around, stumbled across this Holmes WeMo heater, and found that it was not yet for sale. BUT there was a contest running to win one. I signed up and...I was one of the winners! The heater arrived in mid December and I planned my trip to the vacation home. Upon arrival I got everything hooked up to the WeMo app and was relatively pleased, until......the power went out in the cabin. When it came back on, the heater was OFF and did not "reboot" automatically. The power button on the unit has to be manually pushed to bring it back to life. Suddenly, I realized that I was staring at a huge paperweight (for my needs). Our cabin location often has short power outages and the unit will remain unresponsive (until manual/physical reboot) if power is cut off at any point.
Bummer.
Aside from this disappointment, the unit worked as advertised and would likely make a nice supplemental heater. I'm not sure how valuable the WeMo integration is for something that can't be trusted to work in a remote location. But, if you just want to warm up a room (from your phone) before you return home, this would likely work well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
