Inexpensive way to get into home automation

Purchased my first wall switch years back to help me determine what really complex and costly hub and device system I needed to figure out how to automate my house. Just one was going to be all I needed to help me figure out how to deal with the complexities of automation.
My first wall switch turned my head around to a way to accomplish my needs way easier, and way more cost effectively.
So I decided to go with WEMO.
So this acquisition is an expansion of a really effective and convenient system I’ve put together. in addition to I have quite a few wall plugs, a motion detector for a wall switch, a WEMO controlled Crock Pot and all my devices are available worldwide if I have an internet connection.
You do need a good solid WIFI connection where your devices are but if your hooked up on a solid connection this is a very useful system
I would recommend this to a friend!

Difficult to set up. Poor documentation.

Purchased three weeks ago. It took two phone calls (total time on the phone was about 90 minutes) to tech support to get switch to finally function. I have still not been able to get separate schedules to work on individual switches. I have to switch all of them on and off manually. One older WEMO switch is working well and the schedule feature is also working that one. A lot of this could have been avoided with decent setup documentation. The documentation assumes plug-and-play. It is not!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The device have multiple problems and poor support

Issues:
- The android app/device asks to update firmware. Unfortunately, it asks for update everyday even though it has been updated to the same version previously.
- The device is now operation in away mode - even though the status and programming is not in away mode.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

These were easy to install and connect to my Google home network. The wemo interface was easy to setup a custom schedule for my outdoor garage lights to turn on and off.

Nice switch but....

Fix the cloud. No other service breaks down so much. Redesign it. I have a heck of a time mounting it in an electrical box because the dimensions make it difficult to get the switch to fit.

Read the fine print

The Wemo smart light switch F7C030 does not work with the Apple Home app unless you purchase a Wemo Bridge. You have to look closely to find this and I missed it and now have two light switches that don't work through the Apple Home app
