Burner knob damaged exactly like the first review

This cooktop was the one the builder selected for my home. It was in place when I purchased my new home. I was simmering something with a glass lid on it and when I lifted the lid to stir the contents of the pan some hot water dripped off the glass lid onto the burner knob melting it almost exactly like the photo in the other review.
The knobs are made out of plastic that is clearly not heat tolerant. Do you make a metal knob replacement kit for this cooktop? Plastic knobs on an appliance whose sole purpose is to make fire seems a little short sighted.
The rest of the cooktop functions well and is easy to clean with the lift up cast iron grates. It would be fine if it had metal knobs or at least knobs that could withstand a few drops of hot water.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We like the grate configuration as it provides a large stable area for pots or frying pans to sit on and we like the simmer burner. The controls are located at the front for easy access. We also like the tip up grates for easy cleaning. It's a real eye catcher! If I would make one suggestion- it would be to move the grate down closer to the burner. I feel there is a lot of wasted heat and energy as a lot of heat moves around the pot rather than concentrating on the bottom. The wasted heat is felt if stirring a pot and is very noticeable on your hand. I feel heat and energy is being wasted (unlike our old Kitchen Aid of 28 years) Thanks Ken and Sheila

The knobs are cheap plastic and melted when cooking things on the front burners.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have just been using my 36” gas cooktop for 3 weeks. Overall it’s ok but you can only simmer on one burner, the others are way too hot. I cook a lot and need to be able to control the flame as I did on my GE Cafe. Also knobs are plastic and heat diffusers are too light.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The hinges on the grates make it easy to lift up and clean any spills from cooking and they are all at the same level making it easy to move pots around without having to lift them. THAT SOLD ME!! The electric igniter can be heard over other noises in the kitchen when lighting a burner. Having 5 burners is a gift when cooking large meals or using large vessels for canning. Easy to use, Easy to clean and Made durable! I support AMERICAN products because they support AMERICANS!
