Fantastic set
on February 19, 2017

I've been gifting my daughter most of the architecture sets for a few years now - and the US Capitol is definitely one of the best to date. It has a fantastic presence on the shelf and the interior details are a great touch. She has built the bulk of the kits herself (8-10 years old) and this is the first set she had a little trouble getting some sections to fit smoothly. The base is so long, if its not perfectly flat, some of the roof section can be hard to align. It doesn't detract from the build, but it does require a little finesse and patience. Overall its on of the best designs and best looking architecture sets to date and a great value considering its size vs. price.

Great Capitol

Loved the build, even with all the 1x1 bricks. Only complaint is half the building is missing. I work by the Capital and I see the west side more than the east and to have it left out of the build was a major let down. Would really like a work around to finish the building.

Very pleased

After spending a lot of time building modular buildings I quite fancied a go at these. My first was the Eiffel Tower which was larger than expected. I bought this set as it looked like a nice big set given the piece count. I was not disappointed! A lot larger than expected and looks superb on my side unit. Very pleased and have already ordered 2 more from the series.
Only small niggle is, would be nice if LEGO could keep the base plates more consistent so that they line up along side one another. But am tackling that one myself ;-) Well done LEGO!

Got this for Christmas, had been looking at these architects sets for some time & was really pleased to get this one as a present.
This is a large model with over 1000 pieces, inside the box are a number of plastic bags with the bricks, I transfered each bag to a zip lock bag to make sorting easier, I also used a plastic tray to sort out all the small pieces, of which there are a lot. The provided book gives great history of the building & great for the build with its detailed step by step guide.
I decided to build this in stages to make the build last longer & to get the most from it. Due to the Large number of small parts this is best suited to the slightly older child, my 7 year old grandson helped me with the final stages of building which he really enjoyed.
Once completed I noticed that along the front & down both sides are a lot of windows & I thought it would be nice to try to get some lights into it, I turned a single brick at the rear which had a hole in it but was turned so the hole did not show I took the model apart & turned this brick so that I could feed the wire thru. I used 3.6 volt LEDs you can see in the picture the result.

Well, I'm sure most fans of this series welcome another large piece count set. The build was easy enough. But, I can't get past how the dome looks. It looks like something from the Ottoman Empire that belongs on a building in Ankara. Over all, I like this set. But the dome? Yuck.

Thank you for taking the time to review your new United States Capital building. I'm sorry to hear that you were not pleased with your new build. Every time we decide to turn a real world building into LEGO form, we do have to take some artistic liberties so that the real world details translate well into LEGO bricks. The great thing about building with LEGO is that if you don't like something, you can rebuild it to your liking. Give it a try and let us know what you come up with,We would love to see the results!

Nevertheless we will be happy to forward your comments on to the team in charge of that area.

My first Lego architecture.

I brought this Lego today because I interesting of building these incredible detail building for my bedroom. The look of this building look very detail, the colours are nice eg white look very clean and shiny. However the price was a little bit too high for this sort of Lego but I brought it because it suits the best in my house. The building experience was nice and easy as some people might find it difficult to build but me, I very experienced of building those things. Anyway you can't really do much on this building because the only thing you can do is take the cone off. At my final conclusion, I would recommend you buy this Lego for display or collection. But if you want it for play about then this building is no good.

As an architect, I saw this as a challenging model for my first project. I am familiar with classical architecture and found the booklet information interesting. The instructions were easy to follow. I was pleased with the result. I may purchase more in the Architecture series. I was not in a hurry to finish so I savored each days progress.

Now that I sit and look at this kit all built, I am really satisfied by the looks and size.
Only problem is I built to fast to enjoy the build, which was awesome! Would recommend to anyone who likes the art of Lego and not the play time.
