Wonderful ship
on May 10, 2018

I had been looking at getting this ever since it showed up in the store but held off on ordering one because of the other reviews and the actual pictures I saw. Before buying it I thought it was noticeably smaller than the traditional star destroyer that came out just before this one, and thought that it wouldn’t be as sturdy and have a smaller interior.
After building the ship though, I saw that this ship was built on the exact same frame as the older one, so their interior space was exactly the same, and the outer hull panels were very close in size too.
Some people say that the ship isn’t very sturdy or the handle feels like it can’t hold the weight of the ship, but if you build it right the hull panels are actually much much stronger than the older one, and those hold together very well. As for the handle feeling like it’s weak or will break off, you can pick up the whole ship and even swing it around pretty aggressively and it still holds strong with no fear or feeling that it’s pulling away from the rest of the ship.
Compared to the old ship the interior and detail of this one is on a whole different level. A sleek table and chairs, doorways and walkways, an elevator, the beautiful control stations at the front of the ship, a small station with a medical droid, a staircase leading to the front of the ship and a very cool large computer. They all fit very very well in the ship with good spacing so it doesn’t feel too crammed in and there’s still tons of room for figures. With all the nice seating in the ship and control stations it feels like I could actually put even more mini figures in it than in the old one, even with all the beautiful detailing.
The only difficulty I had building this ship was the stickers, but they add so much more detail to the ship and I’m very glad they have them. There’s about 25 stickers which are all used on the interior and a few of them are a little difficult to align with others. I recommend putting the black walkway pieces in the ship before you put the stickers on so you can get all the lines and intersections of the stickers straight.
All there is to complain about this beautiful ship is the stud shooters on the exterior can’t be adjusted to aim and the price feels just a little high. If it was a little cheaper I would even get a second one for my fleet.
If you’re on the fence about buying this wonderful ship because of its price or the other reviews I suggest you just go for it and get one. The detail is amazing for collectors and it’s playability with how it’s built as sturdy as a real star destroyer and the variety of mini figures included make it well worth getting.

Awesome Set!

An expensive set but well worth it. Lots of great details but a couple of minor issues. Some of the bottom plates seem to get loose easily if you're going to play with the set. Also, some of the pieces were hard to put on, one of the chairs especially. The carry handle makes it easy to move the set around. Overall, we were very happy with the set.

Awesome Display and Play Set
on February 2, 2018

This is one of the coolest Lego sets I have ever bought, the build was really fun and wasn't particularly challenging, i spread it out over the course of 3 days but was probably around 4 hours of actual building time.
I love this set and would highly recommend it to anyone as it has both play value and looks good as a display piece, it can be placed on a shelf and not look out of place next to UCS sets which is what I have done. The exterior of this model is really cool from all angles, but for me the best thing about this set is the interior details, there is so much packed in to this and there is also plenty of room to place your minifigs, in some sections you can easily place at least 3 minifigs and create some really cool scenes.
You get some really good minifigs with this set, the biggest draws for me were the inclusions of Emperor Snoke, BB-9E and the tiny microfigure scale hologram.
I would give this set 5/5 as it is fantastic value for money, you get a cool looking model which can be displayed, however you also get a really cool play set, so this can appeal to both children and older builders, you also get some really cool minifigs.

All that I can say for this review is the fact that lego couldn't have made it better and I hope they make a set of snoke's star destroyer, The Superemacy

Finally The Finalizer
on May 21, 2018

Pros: Decent build and challenge with a good display factor for the adult collector. Well built and swooshable for the play factor. Includes firing blasters for fun space battles. Opens up for some movie accurate scene recreations from Force Awakens. The figures are pretty good with a Snoke finally making the scene. Details are pretty good given the scale. One of the better capital ship play sets.
Cons: The front of the ship is missing something...and admittedly it would be a challenge to fix but it was an iconic feature that they didn't get quite right.

Better Than It's Predicessor?

The Star Destroyer Was On My Most Wanted Sets List For A Long Time Until December When I Bought it. I was glad I did so and this review is a long time coming, so for all you hardcore LEGO fans like me who actually take the time to read the reviews of a set before buying it. The Minifigs are great. My one wish is that it came with more crewmen. When I modified it to sort of become a First Order Dreadnaught, I found the top bridge on the outside easy to configure and the deatail already added to the build is better than I could have wanted. The one thing I will say that the set is lacking in is the conferance/droid repair room on the left hand side of the destroyer's inside. I just found it boring, so I converted it into Snoke's Throne room which is a process I highly recommend. For the full rundown on how I modified and reviewed this AWESOME set visit my YouTube @ RageAgainstTheEmpire
