Streamlined can opener

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This can opener looks great sitting on the counter. It is easy to use and holds on to the can while opening, so you don't have to hold it. One of the best features is the easy way it comes off to clean. I'm very happy with this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't know I was in the market for a can opener until I came upon Hamilton Beach's electric model. My wife has always preferred the hand-powered can openers and prefers to have as little as possible in sight on her kitchen counter. However, as arthritis in her hands has become more of an issue, when I saw this product I knew it was something worth trying and that we should try. It is extremely easy for anyone to use, even someone with arthritic hands. It is just as easy for those hands to clean the opener by running the head under water and wiping down the assembly. And, my clean-counter wife actually likes having the opener sitting handily, in plain sight on the counter. Its sleek, compact design makes it fit in discreetly, not calling attention to itself, but still dressing up the work space. The smooth lines and stainless steel construction work with any décor. Without admitting this product has been godsend, my wife hasn't pulled her old standby mechanical model out of the drawer since I put this one in place on the counter, ready for use. (I'm pretty handy in the kitchen, myself, and I like it, too.) It truly has been a welcome and timely addition to our kitchen and all we do there.

Great Can Opener

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Can Opener has nice lines and is tall and slim and is not bulky. It can open a large 48 oz. can with no problem. The handle seems a little thin and plastic but so far seems OK. You don't have to push very hard to start it. Once started it continues to spin and stops automatically. The magnet grabs a hold of the lid and holds it. The Detachable Can Opener Head removes for easy cleaning and replaces with a snap. On the back there is a knife sharper and sharpens knives very sharp. There is a removable attachment (the OpenMate) in a slot on the back that opens glass bottle caps, can pop tops (no broken fingernails), and a cutting blade for those hard plastic packages. There is a cord storage on the bottom in back for putting the cord into. No more cord all over the counter. This Can Opener would be great to own and a great gift to someone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon receiving the Hamilton Beach Can Opener I first noticed the sleek, clean design which fits easily on any countertop. Next, the convenient slot in which to place the bottle opener is out of the way but handy for easy access. The knife sharpener is not as easily convenient, but a handy addition. Now, to the functioning ability of the can opener itself, as yet I have not been able to get one can opened. The cutter penetrates the can and then it bogs down, simply making a strange noise while not moving at all. I must then move it a little and try again, to the same result. After having made many holes along the can, I must then take my hand held opener and crank around to finally be able to get to what's in the can. I shall keep trying to accomplish getting one can opened as it should with the Hamilton Beach Can Opener. Might I add, I own a few Hamilton Beach appliances and this is the first one I have had a problem with. Sad to say, I still like the can opener design.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

More than expected!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this product because I only have 70% use of my left hand. Manual can openers were impossible to use. This is so easy for me. Just put the can in place and close the top and it opens the can easily. I was surprise by the knife sharpener and pleased. Easy cleaning. Great product!

My new favorite can opener!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This can opener cut thru all of the lids with ease. I tried small tomato paste cans up to coffee cans, it never jammed or came unseated. The only complaint I have is that the lids come out a little jagged. My favorite part is the removable cutter, that allows you to wash it without getting the motor wet. The extra features of a bottle opener and hard plastic packaging opener are nice and they work well. The knife sharpener does not work that well. Overall this is the best opener than I have ever owned.

Hamilton Beach Stainless EXTRA Tall Can Opener

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have this beautiful tall can opener. YES, tall. I selected the tall model because from time to time purchase taller cans and opening with the normal (average) size can opener can be difficult. This model 76778 is stainless steel, has a removable cutting head with automatic shutoff with what is labeled as “SureCut tm” patented technology. It cuts/opens the can every time is all I am sure about. It includes a knife sharpener with cord storage in back of unit. Also included is a multi-tool (Open Mate tm)for opening bottles and can tabs with a cutter for those hard plastic packages.
It measures almost 9 ½ inches tall, about 4 ½ inches wide and a little over 7 inches deep. It can fit very nicely on any cabinet/counter top. The cutting head easily detaches for cleaning in sink if you need. A good wash under the faucet is normally all that is needed.
It is quiet to operate. The operation is very smooth to complete. The lid is held in place with magnet on the opener and you don’t have to try and catch the lid once the can is opened. The lid does not fall into the can which prevents possible small metal shavings from going into your canned food.
The ease of operation is to me very important because I can be all thumbs at times but with this opener I don’t have any troubles at it.
