This has made the Internet usable again

My previous modem/router setups always resulted in weird connectivity issues, slow speeds and constantly resetting wifi on my devices.
Installing the Orbi has resolved those issues. We now have a fantastic, fast signal all through the house and in our yard. I like being able to monitor all of the devices connected to the network and I like that the satellite provides additional ethernet connections, allowing me to place smart home hubs closer to the devices they service.
One note about the Orbi is that set-up isn't quite as easy as I'd hoped. The instructions seem to miss a step or place a step out of order, which led to me redoing the set-up. For the first week after setting everything up, the app kept wanting me to re-set-up everything, which was impossible because I'd already renamed my network. Once I figured out the correct sequence of steps, I was able to easily set up the router, satellite and get my network up and running.
Overall great product!

RBK50 rocks
on May 29, 2019

I've only been using my rbk50 for 3 days. However, I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with performance which was the single most important factor to me. I consider myself to be an advanced user and the installation/configuration is a bit confusing. I have an AT&T Uverse Residential Gateway. There was nothing in the quick start guide that covered configuration as an access point. So, I downloaded the user manual which contained the AP config scenario. Lastly, I found it strange that the QoS features were disabled by default. I don't know whether this is because I reconfigured the device as an AP or if the manual is wrong about these features being enabled by default. Without this feature enabled, I was not really seeing a true mesh network where I could wander between different areas in my house and seamlessly join the main AP or the satellite. However, once I enabled the QoS features I was able to join both seamlessly by wandering around my house.

Best WiFi Solution for Homes
on May 29, 2019

I Have purchased this product twice one for my parent's house and one for my home. The WiFi coverage is amazing as it covers my whole house and including my yard. There is no need to run Ethernet wires around the house in order to provide internet to the Orbi device as this does not require an Ethernet link to every Orbi device.
There are three bands one for 2.4, 5ghz and its own dedicated line to speak to the other Orbi devices. You have the router which is the brain and the Satellite devices that extend the wireless and also provide you ethernet inputs to use to directly connected the Satellite device and also on the main Router oOrbi device.
Hands down the best device home Wifi Solution. There is no Lag, no buffering, and the wireless is flawless compared to the crappy WiFi device my ISP has added.
I recommended this product for homeowners who have no ethernet run in the house and need to provide full coverage of their house. You will not be disappointed

Great system
on May 29, 2019

I had been frustrated for some time with my current WiFi setup. I prefer to keep some of my computer equipment connected via wire which dictated the placement of the WiFi router at one end of my two-level house. As a result, I had poor connectivity at the other end including my patio area. After doing some research I decided to go with a "mesh" type network and the Orbi system was consistently getting the best reviews so I took the plunge. The new equipment has been set up now for the past couple of weeks and it is working great. I no longer have any connectivity issues on the patio (or anywhere else!). Overall throughput has increased as well. Once I discovered the "Advanced" settings via a direct connection to the master device, I was able to set up port forwarding and DDNS services without any problem. The phone/tablet app doesn't meet my needs but the browser interface works well.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my new Netgear Orbi system and highly recommend it!

Solid multifloor coverage
on May 29, 2019

We just moved into a house that was laid out a little broader than our old place and the router had to be installed in one corner of the home on the first floor. Due to the construction of this house, our wifi range was limited and we had very little signal from the rented router our internet provider gave us.
I took the plunge and bought this mesh router system and my own cable modem and it has worked out perfectly. The setup was very simple with the app and the signal lights make positioning the satellite unit child's play. My girlfriend was concerned about the amount of light that the satellite was giving off, but it only lights up during setup and doesn't cause any light pollution in our room (the most effective spot for the satellite ended up being the master bedroom).
Now I have very strong wifi speeds at close to the max that my cable modem can deliver all over the house. Like in most cases: you get what you pay for and this system is worth every penny.

It's worth every 5-star review
on May 29, 2019

I was looking for a WiFi Mesh system that would provide the best performance regardless of price. I looked at review from multiple tech and gadget sites and the NETGEAR Orbi AC3000 was always at the top of every site. At first, I thought it was either corporate favoratism or paid reviews, but after using it for a month, I can definitely say that every 5-star review was accurate. You get great performance regardless of where you are at within its field, you have zero dead zones and the user interface is amazingly simple yet helps you keep your network secure without any confusing prompts or settings. Setting up the hardware seems intimidating when you unbox everything, but the setup was a simple as turning on the satellites and clicking on 'Add Satelite' in the Orbi app. When positioning the satelites, there's no guesswork involved. Each Orbi satelite will flash red if it's in a spot that will not provide coverage. I had everything up and running in less than 10 minutes.

Device met our expectations
on May 29, 2019

I am extremely happy with the ORBI mesh network extender. It saturates my home with WiFi and gives us uninterrupted access for our devices in every corner of the house and well out into the yard. It provides a single network SSID to connect to wherever you are in the house unlike previous solutions that I have put in place.
The ORBI helps immensely with connecting to peripheral devises such as WiFi printers and Smart TVs. It also helps to work with other tech devices such as coding my Raspberry Pi projects because it extends one network throughout the house. This provides solid coverage for connecting to these devices remotely through SSH for example. It was a bit of an investment but has been well worth the money. We can even set up guest network access to turn on or off when we need it. It is easy to monitor and control through the mobile phone app as well.
We are very happy with the performance of the ORBI network extender and recommend it without reservation.

Initial impressions install and usage RBK53

U shaped house with an atrium in the center, historically bad signal from one end to the other. Add to that strong signal from neighboring houses (go figure). Bought the Orbi 3 pack, followed instructions (so simple) strong fast WiFi through out the house.
Observations: old speed test wirelessly some where around 50Mbs close to gateway router. Speed test with Orbi installed around 300Mbs!
The Orbi app for iOS seems a little buggy. Got in this loop of trying to register with email and password and later would not authenticate.
Lastly, my wireless Ring devices have got a very strong signal. But in a r cent trouble call they suggested because of the single SSID across Orbi router and satellites the Ring devices might be confused bouncing from one satellite to the other causing delay issues. So maybe there is one ask from NETGEAR will we have the ability to create a unique SSID For each Orbi router and satellite? Might be a technical reason that I don't understand perhaps.
