Must change to Orbi mode

If connecting as a satellite to an existing Orbi system you must set it to Orbi mode. It comes as an extender from the factory. The piece of paper that comes with this satellite explains how. Basically make sure the power button is off. Then plug it in. Then hold down the pairing button. Then power it on while holding pairing button. Then release pairing button. This will cycle it into orbi mode. It took my satellite about 5 minutes to finally go into Orbi mode. Once in orbi mode go to the app and pair it. Again, follow the paper that came with it unless you just want to use it as an extender.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have several Bluebird nest boxes scattered around my 5 acres with Blink Outdoor cameras in them. Was consistently getting poor to no wifi signal in order to view. Added this Orbi outdoor satellite to my system and have fantastic coverage now!!

Picked this little badboy up to upgrade from an apple router. The Covid 19 caused everyone to be home more often, and the old router would not cut it any more. After 1 month of research and the opinion of an IT professional (also a good friend), decided on the rbk50. Setup was a breeze, got a wall mount and away we go. Here we are about 1 wk later, there are about 30 devices connected, as well as 12 more from the guest set up and for once i am getting the speeds i pay for, as well as no matter where you go in the 4000 square foot home, there is coverage with consistent speeds. I highly recommend, if you are in need of an upgrade and need whole house coverage.
Getting a satisfying and very useful signal across a rural road. 200ft.+ distance.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Before this system, I had a router and extender. My wifi goes in and out several times a day. I thought the issue was with the ISP. Finally, I decided to switch from traditional Wifi to mesh technology. It was an eye opener to me, my internet speed reached peak point of our ISP's bandwidth and so does the internet stay alive.

Before buying this product, I researched it in great depth compared to its competitors. I decided to go with the Orbi for 2 main reasons- a dedicated 5ghz back channel meant that compared to its competitors, signals between the router and satellite were much stronger between walls. My speed by Ethernet connected directly to the router is 92.3mbps down, my speed connected directly by Ethernet to the satellite is 92.3mbps down, my speed connected by wifi to the satellite is 92.1mbps down standing right next to it and 90.9 at the furthest point in my house from the satellite. This was important to me because my modem line connection is in one corner at the far end of the house. So I could put the satellite in the middle of the house in the living room and everyone connects securely.
The second main reason that this was perfect for my situation is the fact that unlike their competitors, there are many Ethernet ports available on both the router and satellite. So my ps4 and Apple TV are both connected via Ethernet to the satellite, which in conjunction with the dedicated backhaul meant that I didn’t have to spend extra money on installing Ethernet ports all over the house. The nest wifi had no dedicated backhaul and no Ethernet ports. If you look at YouTube reviewers videos of different mesh systems you’ll see that connected to the main router, the nest does an outstanding job with speeds, but connected to the satellite, 120mbps downloads dropped to less than 20. (I mention the nest because it’s the most popular mesh system and one of the ones I was seriously considering at purchase time).
The setup and app were ridiculously simple. Setup took less than 5 minutes before I was online, most of which was waiting for modem to restart. The app is intuitive and user friendly. For the first time ever, I can stream multiple 4K videos at once while gaming online at the same time and the system doesn’t stutter at doing so. When I upgrade the system in a few years, whatever models succeed this one will be my first consideration.
Easy to Install and Works Great. Using it as an extender to a Linksys Wireless Router. Wish it was all Netgear, but had the Wireless Router first and it still works fine.
