Fast speeds and amazing convenience

I purchased the Orbi router and Orbi satellite for my 1400 sqft home. I previously had very poor connection in the back of the house and poor WiFi speeds. Before Orbi, my PS4 on the WiFi network of a 200mbps internet packet reported a dismal 3-5 mbps download speed. With Orbi, it is consistently 35+, which is excellent for WiFi. I have no need to hardwire any of my devices. Between me and my partner we have 2 phones, 2 iPads, 2 laptops, and 2 PS4s connected to the router. Everything performs optimally. When a guest comes over and needs our WiFi password, I can just hit a button on my phone and they're connected. The range of the router is excellent. I have not yet needed to hook up the satellite as the Orbi alone covers the whole house. Setup was very easy. There were clear instructions and the process was a breeze. It came with its own secure network name password but allowed the option to change the name/password. Well worth the investment.

It's all covered

I wasn't sure if this system would be a great replacement for my old D-Link DIR-645, but after hearing my 14 year old whine for the thousandth time that his games were lagging - I finally made the switch. The Orbi is very easy to set up and definitely reaches the little troll's basement hideout and the lack of whining has been absolutely fabulous. I've also noticed that multiple devices can now stream simultaneously without any lag all across my 3,600 sqft house (even downstairs and in the garage).
Pros:
- Easy to set up
- Easy to administer
- Reaches everywhere it's needed
- Fast, strong signal(s)
- 2.4 and 5 GHz bands for regular and guest networks
- Comprehensive logging & metering
Cons:
- OpenDNS configuration seems like it's just a subset of OpenDNS itself and doesn't seem to use my long-standing rules/whitelist/blacklist from the OpenDNS website
- Android app is slow and buggy, but thankfully the web-based administration is not

Expensive, but well worth it

I was looking for better Wi-Fi coverage and tried all of the traditional options (moving the exiting router, wireless extenders, power line extenders, etc.). None of them got me the results I was looking for. I did considerable research and read all of the reviews on the RBK50. Finally I decided it would spend the extra and try the unit. It was well worth it. The coverage I now have is incredible. With that being said, I'm not covering a 5000 square foot house on one level. I've got an 1800 sq ft house with a full basement (not in the 1800 ft). I've got the main unit on the 2nd floor and the satellite on the main level. One of my big concerns was full coverage in the basement for Wi-Fi leak detectors. I needed that coverage to be 100% solid. I have a 100mbs service coming in the house and now I have 100mbs+ on all 3 floors. This is my 3rd NetGear, however I've also used other OEM's. This was expensive, but well worth the investment.

Worth the $$$

My house is a multi-level 1800 s.f. home with a fairly small footprint considering the size. Because of where my cable modem is I have always had difficulties with getting internet to my living room and the electronics there (smart tv, streaming device, game systems, wifi for cell phones). I have tried several methods of extending my network including powerline adapters and wifi extenders without much luck. The main problem is that the wall between the living room and rest of the house has a fireplace and is made of brink. I decided to take a chance on the Orbi system and I am glad I did. I initially placed the satellite half way between my base and the living room and was happy with the results. On a whim I moved the satellite into the living room and was surprised to find that I was getting good signal strength in that location so I left it there. Now my internet speed in the living room is sufficient to stream UHD movies with minimal buffering.

Incredible connection for 3 story house
on May 29, 2019

I was very cautious with what system I wanted to go with for a 3 story townhome (2200 square ft). I needed full coverage from one end to the other as well as the bottom floor (partially underground) to the top floor with a deck. I did not want to deal with extenders. This system has one of the best rated ranges with one of the highest throughputs. Going from one part of the house to the other, the internet was seamless and smooth when walking with a laptop doing Skype video. I have tight spaces with tons of wood, concrete layers and stucco on the outside walls. No issues with any of the multiple systems that rely on the internet. Product looks nice as well. I have one sitting next to my Alexa on the kitchen peninsula. It might be a tad more expensive, but for the reliable signal, range and strength that are all at the highest rankings and reviews for the tech geek sites, this was the best purchase and wait for a system like this.

Wi-Fi Royalty

Never was able to completely cover any house we've lived in with good Wi-Fi signal. I had been thinking of getting Google Wi-Fi, decided to read multiple reviews & comparisons. After going thru the specs for ORBI and realizing that it has high end router settings/options and reading good reviews on wifi performance went down to local electronics store and picked up a set. Oh was I in for a great surprise... setup was a breeze, I estimate less than 25 minute from unboxing to having router and satellite up and running. I had tested Wi-Fi coverage with original isp router, had couple of dead zones and multiple very low signal areas. After installing ORBI (R/S) I was not able to find any dead spots or low signal areas. House is +2700 sqft. Even 3 car garage has great coverage. Now after 2 weeks started tweaking settings, prioritizing bandwidth and adding the Disney control to limit kids online time & content. Awesome product, great coverage and features.

Works perfect

I must say, this is an amazing product. I have a 100MBPS internet, and if I do a network test at any time of the day, it gives me more than 100 MBPS speed. The range is exceptional. It covers my house at 4,000 ft area. Wifi setup was a breeze. It only took about 10 minutes to install. And going through other advanced features through the portal took about 20 more minutes. I was amazed to see all the features it offers (VPN, DNS Access, Guest Access, etc.). The design is plain and simple which makes it easy to place it in plain eyesight. Android/iOS apps have a clean interface and easy to navigate through. The app comes circle with Disney feature where you can restrict access to other devices and monitor the websites accesses. Also limiting usage which I think is very amazing. I really wished it supported USB 3.0 which can be done via software update from Netgear. Ample gigabit ports available on router and satellite. Its the best product money can buy.

Pretty perfect

I bought this new router because my Philips Hue lights weren't working as well at the far end of my townhome. My previous router often failed me when I needed the speed to watch video and it would oftentimes drop off when I was at the border of my home. This router succeeds in all of the places where my previous router failed! I now have coverage all throughout my house and it is some of the zippiest internet I have ever experienced! When I'm browsing the internet on my phone there is zero hesitation! My philips hue bulbs are responsive in my entire home now, and when I am on my back deck I still have full coverage wifi! If you were suffering from lack of wifi because your home was just slightly too large, this system is perfect for you! It offers coverage over a greater distance than I received from any previous router, and the app based configuration was simple to use and quick to set up, simply scanning QR codes to get started! Highly recommended!
